I really needed to go to the toilet, which I'm sure many people do after a long journey of several hours. Although I arrived at the regular check-in time, the owner picked up her son without making sure that someone was there to let me in if necessary. I admit that I couldn't give an exact arrival time because I came by bus and it was delayed and I was stuck in a long traffic jam in the taxi. But check-in was until 7:30 p.m. and I was there about 2 hours earlier. That's a bottomless cheek. This isn't Airbnb... When she finally came, I had to pay €10. In cash. I actually thought we were living in 2024. I find it impossible that a hostel doesn't accept card payments or Paypal. She then offered me a cancellation, but didn't want to give me the commission for the platform - as if I was paying 6 euros to almost pee my pants and be fobbed off with a cheap "I had to pick up my son". That's the kind of situation that employees have! Unfortunately, the night was also terrible. The room was of course not 30 square meters (as stated in my booking), but at most half that and was shabby and not clean (including hair on the pillow and duvet). But I would normally have overlooked it. Unfortunately, I was woken up in the night by a ringing cell phone and someone sitting on the balcony DIRECTLY in front of my window, smoking and talking on the speaker phone (at 11:30 p.m.!). When I finally fell asleep again, I woke up again shortly afterwards from the cold. It got super cold at night and there was no heating. The air conditioning was shiny, but there was no remote control for it. I have rarely been so happy to leave an accommodation.
