Asakusa Yoshino Hotel: A Tranquil Edo-Style Inn Amidst the Bustle I was absolutely charmed by Asakusa Yoshino Hotel on my first stay! It's a mere 5-minute walk to Senso-ji Temple and Kaminarimon, making it incredibly convenient for exploring Nakamise Shopping Street and taking a rickshaw ride. Yet, it's tucked away in an alley, offering surprising peace and quiet. The Japanese tatami room was spotlessly clean and refreshing, with wooden furniture and paper sliding doors. Before bed, sitting cross-legged and gazing at the old streetlights outside the window, felt like stepping back into the Edo period. The owners are a super friendly couple; communication in English was no problem, and they even proactively recommended a fantastic tempura spot nearby. For breakfast, you can choose between a Japanese set meal or a Western-style light breakfast – the miso soup was unbelievably delicious! They even gave us a small souvenir upon check-out, showing incredible attention to detail. For those on a budget who want an authentic Tokyo experience, this place is a no-brainer – the value for money is outstanding!

The hotel is nice, it's quite spacious, quiet and has all the necessary tools. The view on the skytree tower is also terrific. The pillows are also not the worst. I would stay there one more time, but there are some small cons, of course: - the furniture may be a little bit worn out, - there is a kettle but no tea etc. - reception staff is not that often seen but we didn't have any problems to need them - distance from the subway and buses, especially if you use the Tokyo metro pass. To summarize: for me the price-quality ratio here for Tokyo is quite good, moreover in this district I wouldn't like to live near the subway as it gets super crowded and noisy.

I booked this hotel for its 25sqm room size but later realized that much of the space is taken up by the bathroom. The separate toilet and shower are a plus, as two people can use them at the same time. However, the actual living space feels more like a 15 sqm room — just enough to fully open one luggage. The room is clean, but the location is rather inconvenient, with the nearest train station over 1 km away.

Location - convenient if you are heading to Asakusa, but not the other areas (will have to walk for 10-15 minutes or take a bus which costs 210yen to go to Asakusa station before changing to the subway). Public bus services end at around 10pm. General - Receptionist was away for most of the time. Hotel lobby and lift are both very stuffy. There is a washer and dryer available on level 8 (~500-600 yen to wash and dry). This is a non-smoking hotel but there is a smoking room on level 2... Room - Door is opened using a key which is quite difficult to use. Room is pretty small, would recommend bringing a small luggage or putting it at the "balcony", otherwise there is no space to walk. Would be better if the "balcony" has a rack to hang clothes and/or towel, otherwise the space is wasted.

The hotel was dirty. We found multiple insects in the room. It was disgusting. The room was smaller than in the picture and smaller than as described. We couldn’t fit the luggages. The bathroom was ok, although we barely had a sink and a mirror, which you could use only my standing all bent beside the toilet. The service was less than average. Although it’s an international hotel the staff has serious difficulties with English. Our room was not cleaned initially, when they finally did (on our last day, after being asked multiple times) they did not refill the toilet paper or any of the amenities. The furniture was badly setup and not fixed to the wall so it fell down.
