Sunshine City Prince Hotel Ikebukuro Tokyo Reviews

The room size is quite spacious for Tokyo standards, and it's very clean, especially the carpet – you won't see any dust after walking on it with slippers. The meals are Western-style; although I didn't particularly love the taste, there was enough to eat. Transportation is super convenient, with the airport limousine bus stopping right downstairs. It's also about a 10-minute walk to Ikebukuro Station. Highly recommended!

Conveniently located with great subway access. The hotel is situated right within a shopping mall, surrounded by many commercial areas, making it a one-stop shop for shopping and dining – a true paradise for anime fans. The room was a bit small but very clean and well-equipped.

Stayed here in the summer and was told there was no air conditioning. We spent three nights without AC, only a small fan. Although they offered free breakfast, an airport shuttle, and tax-free for three nights, the lack of AC in summer really ruined the experience. They said we could switch hotels and they'd cover the transportation and price difference, but then they claimed there were no other hotels available. Even with the freebies, it was a really bad experience. The male staff at the front desk, however, had an excellent attitude.

This is my first time traveling abroad and encountering a situation where a hotel claimed their air conditioning system was broken and couldn't accommodate me, offering to move me to a different hotel in Shinjuku, about 8km away. However, I waited in line for almost an hour to check-in, and other guests were continuously checking in. The hotel's explanation was that those guests had been notified in advance or were part of a group. It was obvious the hotel was fully booked and trying to move individual guests who were willing to switch hotels. After much persistence, the hotel finally allowed me to check-in. It was a very poor service experience. Everyone, please be aware of this.

The hotel is right next to the stairs where Hatsuhana pushed Mutsuko. You can walk underground all the way to the hotel from the train station, and it's not far from Ikebukuro Station either.

Second time staying at this hotel in Ikebukuro with my daughter. The transportation is very convenient, with a direct airport bus. There's a FamilyMart convenience store right downstairs, and it's directly connected to a shopping mall. Actually, there's even an underground passage that connects to Higashi-Ikebukuro subway station (I think it's the Marunouchi Line). Lots of anime/manga fans in the area. The room is spacious enough for two suitcases and also has a desk.

Aside from being a bit of a walk from the station, everything else was perfect! There's a shuttle bus service to and from the airport, and there's a mall right downstairs with plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options. Plus, a 24-hour supermarket nearby. Superb! I'll definitely stay here again next time!

Pretty remote location and service is decidedly terrible. Being one of the two (now three) “better” hotels in the area, there’s a reason why Hotel Metropolitan is considered a 5 star while this remained a 4 star. Location wise Metropolitan has it beat. Service wise, I was retrieving my bags before the bus ride and despite a line of people queuing up to retrieve their bags there were only two people handling the luggage storage and plenty more just milling about idly behind the counter.

The location of this hotel is absolutely unbeatable! It's a short walk from Ikebukuro Station, and there's a direct indoor connection to Sunshine City mall, so you don't have to worry about rain while shopping. All the major popular shopping centers are within walking distance, making it incredibly convenient for shoppers. Right downstairs, there's also a direct airport bus stop with fixed daily schedules. This is super handy whether you have an early morning flight or a late arrival, saving you the hassle of transferring multiple times. The room amenities are just average, nothing particularly impressive, but its unbeatable location and affordable price more than make up for it. The overall value for money is exceptional! I highly recommend this hotel for tourists visiting Tokyo for shopping or those who need easy access to and from the airport. Its travel convenience far surpasses other hotels in the same price range.

If you are someone who likes to shop, then this hotel is convenient for you as this is connected to a mall.

The room was clean, breakfast was excellent with a great variety, and the service was attentive. The hotel is conveniently located with many shops and restaurants nearby. The 60th-floor observation deck offers panoramic views of Tokyo. Highly recommended!

Just a ten-minute walk from Ikebukuro subway station, and right downstairs is Ikebukuro Sunshine City with lots of food and shopping options. That Takoyaki, it looked great but didn't taste good! 😂

The airport shuttle goes directly to the hotel. The room isn't huge, but it has everything you need, and they clean it daily, changing the linens. Getting around is super easy with the subway right outside. The hotel also has a massive underground mall with plenty of food and entertainment options.
