Econo Lodge Wanamaker

We booked a room with a couch, I was told that the only room like that was on the second floor and because I had a pet (which was known at time of booking)and our room would need laminate floors we could only stay on the first floor therefore we would not have a couch. Explained the need for the couch and the length of our stay. Was told no. I saw pictures of rooms with laminate floors that had couches on the website so was a bit confused, but let that be. When getting to the room, I saw that the furniture was very worn and the seating very sparce. The beds creaked and were shaky, but we managed. It was advertised that there was an indoor pool, but apparently it was not functioning. This was not mentioned on the website for this location. I was planning on letting my grandchildren swim and I wanted to hot tub myself. It was advertised to have a hot breakfast. We were lucky to get weak coffee and cold cereal. Small packaged muffins were sometimes available. This is not what I call a hot breakfast. The staff were very pleasant and as helpful as they could be under the conditions of the motel. When we walked our dog, we had to be careful so to not have her walk on broken glass or beer cans. We were almost certain if we explored more we would have found needles, there were grocery carts all around and pretty sure homeless lived around the trash bins. We are from Topeka and back visiting for my grandson's music concert. We knew that area so was surprised to find it in such disarray. You would have thought for the area of town the motel would have been kept up better.

Sheets were VERY stained. Lamp shades appear to have been smashed, then put back onto the lamps. Bathroom mirror had been vandalized yet not replaced. Breakfast is supposed to be from 6 - 9:00. @ 8 a.m. there were 3 pieces of bread sitting out in the breakfast area along with some Cheerios. I believe there was a pot with coffee, however nothing else. Not even water, Because I don’t drink coffee there was no sense in even attempting to eat something there. I was very unimpressed. It felt as if the owners could care less about the condition of the building. Granted, it was the cheapest hotel in the area, and I knew that when I chose to stay there. In that sense, I got what I paid for. With that said, I don’t feel I got what was advertised. Lesson learned

Our non-smoking room smelled like smoke, but was otherwise clean. The room temperature was fine and beds were acceptable. The toilet tended to overfill rather than flush effectively. The pool and spa were closed. The desk staff were nice. Overall, could have been better but acceptable for the price.

Staff was not overly friendly, very indifferent to if we existed. Breakfast consisted of dry cereal-no milk to be found. A waffle maker was there. No eggs. No yogurt. The bed was comfortable. The towels were hard and uncomfortable. For the price, i would not recommend.

Rooms were not clean. **** on the bedside table. Hair in the bathroom. Told clerk at desk they said not my problem and wouldn’t give us refund.

Clean room, friendly staff, pool still closed, room booking online didn't match reservation, but was equally compensated.

Staff were nice. The pool and hot tub were closed. The stopper in the tub didn’t work. The towels had stains on them.

Was told to leave a credit card on file even though my room was fully paid for and had a credit card on file. Unprofessional of them. And their breakfast was horrible and very limited.

The price was great. The rooms had what you would expect like a microwave, etc but the continental breakfast was lacking (all carbs, no protein). I booked a room on first floor, because of knee, but got one on second (no elevator). Little things, but things to consider.
