"Had the pleasure of staying there with my wife for 2 nights as a birthday surprise by our son. The hotel is very clean, the staff were very helpful and the food was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole experience was fabulous. If you like your walking and exploring, this is a must for you. The only downside for us, was the location being a bit out of the way, as we like to go out for a drink, then get a taxi back to finish off in the bar. Made to feel very welcome though and enjoyed our stay very much. Well done to all of the staff."

"Five friends met for dinner and an overnight stay. Here's some of what we had: grilled scallops, n'duja scotch egg, herb crusted rack of lamb, homemade bread, chocolate moelleux with vanilla ice cream, a bottle of Puglian red and a South African chenin blanc. This is fine dining territory. The cooking was exemplary, the succulent lamb possibly the best I've eaten, yet the bill, with tip, didn't break 50 quid a head. Sound sleep in a comfy bed and a superb 'full English' the next morning. Hats off to chef/proprietor Nicolas. 'The Ram's Head' is a bit off the beaten track but well worth seeking out. While in Dolton check out the Anglo Saxon font in the village church. The wonderful RHS gardens at Rosemoor are nearby."
