The main draw of this hotel is its classic ryokan style. The staff and management are exceptionally kind and friendly, dedicated to upholding all traditions to a very high standard. The hotel has won numerous awards in specialized competitions. I enjoyed everything, especially the thoughtfulness and hospitality of the hotel staff.

This was my first time visiting Kinosaki Onsen, and I chose Kawaguchiya Kinosaki Riverside Hotel. There's a free shuttle bus from right outside the train station to the hotel, which was super convenient. The hotel also offers a shuttle bus service to the various onsen around town, and they provide a timetable. The hotel has a charming, old-fashioned decor. The lobby even has a gift shop where you can buy souvenirs. After checking in, each guest can pick a different yukata to wear both in the hotel and for onsen hopping. Plus, the hotel package already included the cost for visiting the public onsen. Our room had both hot and cold water available. We opted for the package with dinner and breakfast. The dinner was decent; it consisted of local vegetables, sashimi, a Tajima beef hot pot roll, grilled fish, and kamameshi. The portions were just right. Breakfast was also Japanese-style, with grilled fish and pickles. After checking out, the hotel can arrange for your luggage to be sent to a pick-up point near the station; I think it was around 200 yen per piece (can't quite remember). We visited in May, which might not be peak season, as there were very few tourists, and the streets were quiet for walking. Just a heads-up, when going onsen hopping, make sure to check the timetable, as two of the onsen were closed on the day I went.

This onsen hotel has its own hot spring and sauna, and they even offer free tickets to a nearby onsen. I tried the half-board service (dinner and breakfast included), and it was a great experience. The price was also very reasonable.

We stayed for one night and booked a traditional room. The hotel is a bit out of the city center, but the town is very small, so it's not a major issue, especially since the hotel offers free shuttle services. From the outside, it looks like a modern building, and I wished it had a bit more authenticity. The hotel and rooms are a little 'tired,' but perhaps that's part of their charm. They provide beautiful yukata, obi, haori, and zori, and you can wear this outfit to stroll around town and visit the public onsens (there are six or seven of them), for which they also provide passes upon check-in. We thoroughly enjoyed the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast, served in the same style in a private room. Everything was beautifully presented; it was an interesting experience and a real aesthetic pleasure.

It smells a little bit odd when you first enter the hotel room of this hotel , maybe because of the humidity ? For the breakfast , it was traditional Japanese breakfast , but it was quite costly . But with this hotel price, the room size of this hotel was spacious , which gives me a good , nice surprise .

1. The location is incredibly convenient for walking in any direction. 2. The service was exceptionally thoughtful and attentive. From check-in in the lobby to entering the room, every detail was meticulously explained. They even gave a brief overview of each corner of the room and arranged our breakfast and dinner times, ensuring our meals were prepared. 3. We stayed for two nights, and to our surprise, both breakfast and dinner meals featured completely different ingredients each day (the food was even more filling than a buffet! 😂). 4. The private outdoor onsen was also very comfortable. The best part was being able to soak as a family, without separation by gender, which really enhanced the cozy feeling! 🫰🏻 5. The ryokan also has its own onsen and a sauna room to enjoy. 6. Overall, everyone in our family unanimously rated it full marks! We're already planning to return when it snows.

The hotel is a 7-minute walk from the station, and there are plenty of shops nearby. The dinner in March was a fantastic crab feast. Both dinner and breakfast were served in private rooms, which was very comfortable.

Big room, nice crab dishes; our life was full of crab on this trip. Our family r oom is large but a little stuffy and old. The hotel does not have open air bath as they rely on surrounding public baths — considering the price this hotel should’ve provided more facilities and services to its guests

The room was clean and tidy, and I was very satisfied. They also provided free yukata and geta rentals, which allowed us to fully enjoy the hot spring town!

My group of four friends had a very good stay at this hotel. It is very well maintained, located in a great location and provides great service. I previously stayed here with my family in end 2024. It is still as good.

The hotel staff and service were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the facilities were excellent. I stayed in a nostalgic tatami-style room, and the hotel even made up the futon for me in advance. On the first floor, there's a hot spring available for guests. The hotel also provides a complete yukata set and an onsen all-access pass, allowing you to visit the famous seven hot springs nearby. The breakfast was a real local treat and definitely worth trying! Overall, this hotel is highly recommended for a stay, especially if you're looking to challenge yourself with an onsen hopping tour.

Onsen Hotel with friendly staff (big thank you to the restaurant staff which described dinner menu in perfect English), nice quite rooms and good amenities. Onsen Pass to visit all public Onsen included. Worth to book with dinner as delicious menu. Drop off of luggage (hotel/train station) useful. Would book it again.

The place serve really good meals. The place is neat and clean. Walking distance to the train station.

Although the hotel isn't right in the heart of Kinosaki Onsen, the town is small, so getting around is easy and convenient for visiting the seven public onsens. Don't forget to get your stamp at each one and collect a small gift back at the hotel! The hotel also has its own hot spring bath, it's not huge, but it's usually quiet as most guests go to the seven public onsens. Guests can enjoy a private onsen session once during their stay, and the view from the private bath's window is absolutely stunning. The hotel offers a 'one-night, two-meal' plan, and both breakfast and dinner were plentiful and delicious. The restaurant staff, including some ********* servers, provided detailed explanations of the dishes, and being able to communicate in Chinese was incredibly helpful.
