It has been several months since my stay, yet the Grand Hotel Tremezzo warrants a thoughtful review. The property stands as the true grande dame of Lake Como, and its storied history is unmistakable. Although there are other hotels along the lake—many newly renovated and gleaming—they struggle to match the enduring cachet and character that the Tremezzo embodies. Much like the Lodge at Pebble Beach, it is an established hotel that continues to age with unparalleled grace, sophistication, and charm. Our room offered an exceptional view of the lake, framed by the mountains rising majestically behind it. While the décor was somewhat dated, it was tastefully appointed and well maintained. Waking to such a view each morning was an undeniable highlight of our stay. The dining experiences at the hotel were consistently enjoyable. The breakfast buffet, though modest in presentation, was abundant and of high quality. All the meals we had were prepared with care and were thoroughly satisfying. I must particularly commend the front desk and security staff. During our stay, I misplaced my mobile phone, and the staff went above and beyond to assist in locating it—which they successfully did. Their professionalism and dedication greatly enhanced our overall experience. My partner and I left with wonderful memories and look forward to returning when time allows. For travelers who do not require a newly built or ultra‑modern resort, and who instead appreciate a historic property offering exemplary service, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo is an ideal choice. Considering its age, heritage, and the level of service provided, our stay was truly worthy of a five‑star rating.
