Abbadia Sicille Relais

The whole place, the building, the ground, interior of the room… everything is very well cared for and attentive to details. It is so beautiful, tranquility and surrounded by dreamy scenery of Tuscany. I did not want to leave at the end of my stay

We loved our stay. Despite traveling in January, we found beautiful views from this lovely spot. I can only imagine it in the spring! Our hosts were gracious and thorough. The unit offered plenty of room, a fully equipped kitchen, and inviting decor. This was a perfect spot from which to explore the nearby towns in Tuscany and Umbria. Very grateful to have found this historical and charming gem!

This Abbadia (former Abbey) is a really nice place to spend some nights in Tuscany. Breakfast is terrible because it's ordered the day before and delivered in a basket to your room (not worth the money). The adjacent restaurant looked OK but we didn't try, there are better ones in a few minutes driving distance. The parkin lot is gravel only and after a few hours there your car looks very dirty. To bring your luggage from the parking lot to the rooms is a pain, first you have several stairs in a garden like area and than only a gravel walkway, if you have wheels on the luggage it's not working because of the loose gravel the wheels sink and make it hard to roll. Carry on luggage but not too heavy suggested. The fancy and lighted whirlpools are only in the main building and expensive suites. We had a small suite (smallest i guess) at the tiny sidehouse nearby the pool, i guess it was a shed in former times or a stable. The shower was very small and as well the whole bathroom was very small. The kitchen was only a fridge and a coffee maker some cups some plates and some silverware, and outside we had a table to sit and eat or drink. Nearbay the pool are sunbeds and this are marked with signs matching your room. The pool was nice and a small jacuzzi nearby, pool closes at sunddown. The bed and the furniture matches the old style of the abbey but is not very comfortable, WiFi was very bad there in that building as well. Preseason price was OK, it's rustique but don't expect too much.

What a beautiful place!!! We had an unforgettable stay and wished we could stay longer! Danielle at the reception was awesome and very welcoming. She went an extra mile to make our stay comfortable and we appreciate it very much. Highly recommend!

Was a great experience. Rooms have so much character and charm. Need a lesson on how operate the coffee machine. It did not do so well. Loved Bianca the cat. Dinner was good but would have rather ate in the restaurant room(which I think was closed for the season) rather than the pool table room. Only issue was the doors are old and don’t fully close tight and smokers in the courtyard felt like they were in our room smoking. Great views and some much history of this place as it was originally built in 1263.

We loved our recent stay at this property! I stayed with my partner on a part of our trip to Italy. The villa is quiet, and it was so fun to stay in an old villa that had been converted to small villas. We never heard our neighbours, and though there were several people staying at the same time it felt very private. Our room was comfortable. We did have a jacuzzi in our room, the only downside which we did not realize the first night is that you have to fill it up, which took about 30 minutes so took some extra planning but was perfect for our second night. The restaurant on the property was absolutely delicious and one of our favourite meals. Breakfast was delivered in a very cute box to our room. The property is beautiful and peaceful. We had a lovely stay!

The charm and architecture of these old world buildings was a special treat. The countryside was idyllic. Staying there is a different world for those used to western, industrialized cultures. And I appreciated that very much. Check-in receptionists were very friendly and helpful. One of them, Daniela, even offered me a ride to my destination a few kilometers up the road. I was asking about taxis, and for later a time at which she was leaving to go home. I really appreciated that generosity.

Loved the idyllic landscape and old world architecture. The staff were friendly and helpful with information. The place seems remote surrounded by the Tuscan countryside, although the town of Sinalunga is just a few minutes drive away. A car is recommended. Towns of Pienza and Montepulciano are only 20-25 minutes drive. The place is in a different world, and that is part of its charm. The reception and rooms are quite spread out, so it will not be a typical hotel experience where you roll your luggage into the elevators or have ice machines down the hall. For me that, that made it even more special, but maybe not for those who prefer a little more western style convenience. That being said, the facilities are surprisingly modern.
