We stayed at the "Lodge" at the beginning of March & this was our fifth visit, the first & second back in 2022 & 2023 when it was under the Radisson Blu banner. Skistar then took it over & invested heavily, the many improvements the management have made to this hotel make it a very special place to stay. In the past three years there have been new restaurants (an Italian called "Luca" & "Steak house T Fagersen) which both have wonderful food and a nice ambiance, service is excellent too. New "no slip" flooring which is essential when your walking around in ski boots, a new Spa shop & the Ski shop moved and extended. Rooms are comfortable and if you choose ones with a mountain view have breath-taking scenery. The spa (you have to pay for but do get a large discount if you are a hotel resident) is very nice with an inside / outside pool, two outside & one inside hot tub Jacuzzi's, Saunas, steam rooms and even a bar, treatments are also available. Staben is the hotels afterski bar and also offer food, we love its ambiance & always joined in when they had live music on at the weekends, the staff were always very helpful & friendly, the conservatory area now has new furniture too. The ski lockers are now linked to your room number and you are only twenty meters from the pistes. We go for the skiing and love the many green runs that weave through the trees, they are very pretty, if you fancy something a little steeper head up the chairlift for the three red runs & another green that runs back to the hotel. The lift system on this side of the mountain is due an upgrade as it only has one chairlift, the other ten lifts are a mix of T bars or drag lifts, I do hope Skistar Ski resort send some investment to this side of the mountain as many people I spoke with whist skiing spent most of their time on the Tourist centre side because of the lifts. We always have a brilliant time in Trysil and will be back for visit number 6 next March, we can't wait!

Wonderful wellness retreat and gorgeous food i think it has improved from a few years ago and is good quality and selection. ( have been 3 times so now 4th). They also have sledges that u can use for free and I thoroughly enjoyed so thank you for thinking of this and making even more magical. Other friends also did enjoy lot. Lockers modern and lovely Nordic bar and one with nature decor. Even saw the Northern Lights one of my dreams!!

We have just spent the week at this hotel and resort. A bit of a mix bag review. Was unsure whether to gice 3 or 4* Firstly check in was ok we like a physical card rather than a phone app. Room size ok but not much space for the suitcases to go! Clean towels and service every day👍 we paid extra for half board. Buffet breakfast and dinner. Now this is good BUT food needs to be hotter, sitting under a lamp with no heat is no good. Food was cold which was a shame as there was a good range/choices. Now the swimming pool is a bit of a problem... we were on the understanding that the pool was included in the stay and that if you wanted to use spa facilities then you'd pay extra. This is not the case. Also, get booked quickly so we only managed to go once! Can I also suggest that you provide a swimming costume spinner to help fey them, going back to the room with a wet costume is crazy and took days to dry! We like the two vouchers to eat at a different part of the hotel. But thought the place lacked entertainment could have been so much better. Ski bus service isnt great either, so much better in France/Italy etc and the town itself is limited to. So as I said mix bag good and could do a lot better.

Here are the positives: - Trysil is a great place for family skiing. Plenty of easy slopes for children to learn. Also lessons are 90 minutes and instructors a lot friendlier than the ESF experience - There is now a newish airport 40 mins away which makes travelling here easy (although not many flights to Scandinavian Mountains airport) - Hotel rooms are a good size - Food is generally good at a very pleasant restaurant - Ski hire very easy and you can ski in. Here are the negatives: - There is really very little to do outside skiing. The town is a 20 minute bus ride - bus goes on the hour - and when you get there, activities in town and restaurants were fully booked; - This is not a cheap holiday - and having to pay extra to use the pool at Skistar is a bit aggravating. Especially when it’s fully booked except for one (single) space on day we wanted - There are two other restaurants in the hotel but similar problem with lack of capacity - the pizzeria was fully booked for the first 4 days of our stay. - So whoever has built this large complex hasn’t really allowed for enough space for restaurants or anything else - eg no activities, films or shows. There is one games room with a single ping pong table and a couple of arcade games - which is a bit poor given the enormous size of the hotel; - No tea or cake in the afternoon. You need to pay for that too. - Big problems with communal areas not being cleaned. Ski room didn’t have a bin and rubbish was just building up day by day The real issue with Trysil is that while it’s a promising option for people who don’t want to go to the Alps there isn’t enough infrastructure in terms of restaurants on the slopes, restaurants in town, cinemas etc - and when it comes to skiing, most lifts are buttons or t bars. Which is fine except it can lead to long queues. Overall an interesting contrast to skiing in France and Austria. But quite an austere experience. Generally a 3.5/5. Not sure I would recommend it or come again

Excellent apartment in a great location, we picked this place for being ski in ski out, having a kitchen and three bedrooms. The apartment did not disappoint, spacious and well equipped with brilliant views. We hired a car from the airport so picking up shopping was no issue, it's about a 10 minute drive. The spa is lovely, I booked it with a 50% discount code sent to me about a month before our stay which made it better value. The ski shop was great, hire straight forward and lift passes easy to collect.

Magical stay From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the fantastic location of Trysil SkiStar Resort. The slopes are simply unbeatable, catering to skiers of all levels, especially intermediate. The ski instructors are top-notch, offering both fun and technical guidance. Special shoutout to Matilde, whose instruction pushed us to new heights and made every day extra special. Beyond the slopes, the resort's amenities are superb. The swimming facilities are beautiful, and the well-equipped gym provided a perfect complement to our skiing adventures. We particularly enjoyed the yoga classes, adding a refreshing touch to our stay. While the games room could have been more affordable, the simple Nordic design of the rooms, along with essential kitchen amenities, ensured a comfortable and convenient stay. Plus, the proximity to a supermarket made meal planning a breeze. Nevertheless the booking for dinner is only 6:30 which is too early or 8:30 . I’d would have been nice to have had room service to empty bins, make bed etc as this didn’t happen. SkiStar Resort food quality was good but , we couldn't help but feel that a wider selection of options would have enhanced the dining experience. Nevertheless, the available choices were of nice quality, ensuring a satisfying start to our days on the slopes. The ski-in, ski-out convenience at Trysil SkiStar Resort is an absolute game-changer. Being able to effortlessly transition from our accommodations to the slopes made our ski experience incredibly smooth and enjoyable. It's a convenience that truly sets this resort apart. The sheer volume of snow at Trysil SkiStar Resort is simply staggering! With snow piled high as far as the eye can see, it's a skier's dream come true. One of the days was too wild as we did encounter a blizzard. The abundance of snow on the ground at Trysil SkiStar Resort added an extra layer of magic to our skiing adventure. With pristine powder all around, every run down the slopes felt like a true winter wonderland experience. It's a snowy paradise for any ski enthusiast. Cant wait to return Make sure to bring balaclava

The ski resort was in a lovely location, surrounded by beautiful mountains with convenient ski-in and ski-out access. The lockers were nice, and the bar had a cozy, Scandi luxury feel that I really enjoyed. The rooms were very well-equipped and modern, and there was a super cool glass bridge to walk across, adding a unique touch to the experience. The buffet food was good, though the games room was a bit overpriced. Apart from that, it was truly an incredible resort with a diverse mix of nationalities. Ps the pool is amazing with a swim bit outside and the sauna and hot tubs are just ✨✨✨
