My experience at The Ananta Udaipur Resort was extremely disappointing, and I would never want to visit again. It did not feel like a 5-star property at all – more like a 2-3 star stay. Here’s why, point by point:
1. Rooms & Cleanliness
Stayed in a cottage room but it was poorly maintained.
Washroom floor was dirty.
No floor mat or slippers were kept in the room. I had to call reception multiple times just to get slippers, and they oddly said “slippers are on call service.”
Pillow covers had holes, one pillow didn’t even have a cover.
Blankets were old, rough, and felt very low quality – definitely not 5-star standard.
2. Staff & Service
Staff seemed untrained and lacked basic hospitality manners.
At check-in, staff came to put an extra bed immediately (around 4 PM) when we had just arrived. I told them there was no walking space left with the bed, but they insisted they didn’t want to come again later.
During breakfast, we were a group of 12, but when I asked staff to arrange a table for us, they simply said “you can look around yourself.”
Even when calling them for tea/coffee, they ignored us. Some staff even had visibly negative expressions, which is shocking for a resort of this level.
3. Restaurant & Dining Experience
No proper support for families or larger groups.
Staff unwilling to help, making elderly parents walk around to find food by themselves, which was very inconvenient.
4. Swimming Pool & Amenities
Swimming pool washroom was poorly maintained, no body wash or shampoo available.
Staff dropped us to an old swimming pool even after I clearly told the driver we wanted to go to the new one. He bluntly said “this is the only pool” and left. Only later another staff member clarified that a new swimming pool existed, after I showed him a photo.
5. Check-In Experience
At arrival, our luggage was left on the roadside in an open area despite us mentioning that rain was about to start and I had a laptop in my bag. Staff just ignored the concern.
⚠️ Overall: This was the worst experience I have ever had at a so-called 5-star property. Poor maintenance, unprofessional staff, lack of hospitality, and terrible service throughout. Definitely not worth the price – I would not recommend this resort to anyone.
