Sanfu Hotel

No AC, seriously?! The hotel's interior was quite clean, but I was really surprised there was no air conditioning! Plus, there's no partition between the toilet and shower, so I wish they'd at least put up a curtain. It looks clean at first glance. I've also included a photo of the breakfast, even though I'm not a great photographer.

This hotel had everything I look for: great location, clean rooms, and good amenities. I don't recall adding breakfast to my booking, but they offered it, and I was very grateful for that.

The hotel is wonderful! The service is top-notch! I liked the room and everything in it. Good breakfast. There are shops and a pharmacy nearby, which was helpful when I fell ill. Cons: No laundry service, no elevator (but they always help you with your luggage up and down).

The only positives I can mention are that I was allowed to check in early, and the rooms and beds were more or less acceptable. Everything else was a series of negatives: First, and most importantly: upon check-in, I was informed that there was no hot water in the hotel. They initially blamed a city-wide problem in Ulaanbaatar, but this was untrue; other areas and hotels in Ulaanbaatar had hot water during the same period. I was first promised that hot water would be available on August 3rd, but it never appeared, neither on August 3rd nor on August 5th... ultimately, I spent ALL my days in this hotel without hot water! The hotel didn't even consider offering any compensation for this. Second: the hotel advertises breakfast, but it's frankly poor and seems designed only for Chinese guests. Moreover, by 9 AM, almost nothing is left. So, don't expect a decent breakfast here. Third: the rooms seem new but are already quite worn out, especially the power outlets. For some reason, the hotel installed Chinese-style outlets everywhere, but this isn't China, and many people from other countries visit. Even in Mongolia, the standard is European outlets. As a result, each room has heavy adapters for Euro-plugs (which is good), but these adapters strain and distort the original outlets. What was most ridiculous was that my room supposedly had air conditioning, but it didn't have a proper connection. I had to ask for an extension cord just to get it to work at all (see photo). And the funniest part is that the air conditioner itself had a European plug! So, it couldn't be plugged into the standard room outlet without an adapter anyway. Also: the staff barely speak English and seem completely uninterested in guests. In addition, the hotel is quite far from the city's central square, though it's a 15-20 minute walk. It's located on a noisy and uninteresting street. Therefore, if you have other options for your dates, DO NOT choose this hotel! I absolutely DO NOT recommend it.

Great value for money. The price was really affordable, especially with breakfast included. It's a bit of a walk from the city center, but not inconveniently far. The breakfast was delicious too. The staff were also very friendly. I had a windowless, budget room with only a fan, so it was a little hot, but I chose a cheap room, so that's to be expected. Even so, the value for money was excellent.

The Mongolian breakfast was absolutely delicious! It seems like many locals stay here, and on Naadam day, there were lots of people dressed in traditional costumes!

During my 6-day self-guided tour in Ulaanbaatar, we encountered several difficulties due to the scarcity of roofed taxis, the inconvenience of ride-hailing apps, and language barriers. The manager provided timely, thoughtful, and detailed assistance, which allowed us to successfully complete our travel plans in Ulaanbaatar. A special thanks goes to the manager who personally accompanied us after my companion's phone was accidentally lost while shopping. With the manager's and front desk staff's diligent communication, the phone was successfully retrieved. Thank you again! The manager is Chinese, so communication was seamless, and he was very helpful! I highly recommend this hotel to friends.
