Holiday Inn ULAANBAATAR by IHG

The hot water in this hotel room worked perfectly, no strange issues or rusty color. Overall, it was quite excellent.

Facilities: We booked a king suite, and it was very spacious. The living room even had an extra single bed, which I'd estimate could comfortably fit three people. The bathroom featured two sinks, a separate shower and bathtub, and a smart toilet. Cleanliness: Very clean, and tidied daily. Environment: It's in the city center. While not as close to Sukhbaatar Square as the Blue Sky Hotel, you can pretty much walk to most places within 10 minutes. Service: The service was excellent. Drawbacks: The toilet wasn't in a separate cubicle, which meant the large bathroom felt a bit wasted when someone was using it.

The price was higher than in my home country, but the room conditions were decent. Breakfast was just okay. Mostly, don't have high expectations for Ulaanbaatar. Although it's in the city center, the outdoor scenery isn't great, but it's within walking distance to Gandan Monastery.

Everything was good all around. The location is actually quite close to the CBD, only two kilometers away, but getting around with Uber was a nightmare due to terrible traffic. Every time we went out, it was a struggle.

This was by far the most ridiculous Holiday Inn I've ever stayed at. For a room costing over 1200 RMB, the hot water came out completely rust-colored. The hotel staff tried to blame it on the municipal water supply, but as you can see from the photos, the cold water was clear and colorless; only the hot water had that rusty yellow hue. During the whole discussion, only staff members were present; no supervisors or managers came to address the issue. The hotel's maintenance worker's only solution was to let the water run, which we did for two hours, but it never cleared up. By check-out, there was still no apology or compensation offered.

I had a luxurious stay in a five-star hotel room, complete with clean towels, linens, a shower and bathtub in the restroom, a bidet, and a comfortable bed. The restaurant on the second floor offers a casual dining experience with Mongolian cuisine, pizza, and hamburgers. There was also a Japanese-speaking staff member at the hotel reception.

The staff were a bit unenthusiastic, but overall the stay was good. There were many restaurant options, but the wait times were quite long. The massage wasn't great; don't bother trying it.
