Araliya Beach Resort & Spa Unawatuna- Where You Meet the Sea All Year ★★★★★
"Very comfortable hotel. Convenient location. Huge, beautiful grounds."
Green Villa Unawatuna ★★★
"There was great staying in Unawatuna. Totally clearness and great location is the good for your holiday. We’ll look forward to staying here again"
Agnus Unawatuna ★★★★
"Very friendly staff, great views of the sea and lovely food in the restaurant."
Thaproban Beach House ★★★
"We had a wonderful stay at Thaproban Beach House. The rooms have a modern, cozy vibe and are very comfortable, making it a great place to relax and unwind. One of the highlights is the beachfront restaurant area, offering a wide variety of seafood and meat dishes, along with a good selection of beer and liquor. The atmosphere is fantastic, especially with the ocean right in front of you. A special mention goes to the staff, who were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and supportive throughout our stay. Their service truly made a difference. Hats off to the team for helping carry our luggage all the way up to the 3rd-floor penthouse – their dedication and positive attitude were greatly appreciated. Things to note: The property does not have an on-site car park. However, there is a large private parking area available nearby, right in front of the beach house, for approximately LKR 1,000 per night. Overall, a great beachfront property with excellent service, good food, and a relaxing atmosphere. We would definitely consider staying here again."
Golden Ente ★★★
"Friendly staff , clean hotel , 1 minute walk for unawatuna beach , modern and new rooms , everything included . 10/10 !!! Its worthy for the money we spend !"
Lavendish Beach Resort ★★★★
"We really loved this hotel. The spacious and clean room with a partial ocean view (second line) matches the photos on the website exactly. Daily cleaning, water, tea, and coffee are provided—everything for a comfortable stay. The breakfasts are delicious, although not buffet-style. The hotel's location is simply perfect! It's located at the end of Unawatuna Beach, just a 15-minute walk from the main tourist street. The only liquor store is two minutes away, and Turtle Beach is a 20-minute walk away. But the best part is the beach is right across the street! It's a cozy, quiet bay where the waves crash against the rocks before reaching the shore. Unlike the main beach, where strong currents can sweep you away, here you can safely swim and enjoy the gentle remnants of the waves. I'd especially like to mention the staff—they're smiling, friendly, and very pleasant. Thank you for the warm welcome!"
Epique by Epic Collection ★★★★
"A wonderful and cozy place to relax! Delicious breakfasts with fresh fruit. Located close to the beach and restaurants. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. I really liked it, I recommend it! "
Coral Palm Villa and Apartment ★★★
"A great villa, at affordable price in a beautiful place. Staff is very responsive. Always on contact, always solves all problems. Clean, comfortable and quiet. Rested in early June almost one on the villa. Room is practical and clean. Air conditioning and 2 fan in the room. I rented the apartment. I knew the beach was far away. Tuk-tuk is always ready to take where you need to and bring. The hotel manager Rash is a very pleasant young man. Talks Russian. I didn't know the language, felt comfortable. I am very happy that I chose this villa."
Holiday Inn Unawatuna ★★
"I'm a returning guest — I first stayed at this lovely family-run hotel six years ago and was so happy to come back. It's a small, welcoming place that truly makes you feel at home. The rooms are simple but very clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need: a safe, wardrobe, desk, mosquito net, drying rack, and a suitcase stand. You can choose between a fan room or one with air conditioning, depending on your budget. Just a heads-up — air conditioning comes at extra charge, which is fair given the high electricity costs in the country. This isn’t a luxury resort, so don’t expect all-inclusive service — but for the price, it offers real comfort, peace of mind, and excellent value. Yes, you might see a gecko (totally normal for this part of the world), but the hotel is safe, well-maintained, and genuinely clean. The beach is just a short walk away, and the location is peaceful yet convenient. One of the highlights is the owner — incredibly friendly, helpful, and always available to make your stay better. That personal touch really makes a difference. If you’re looking for a safe, clean, and affordable place with a warm atmosphere, I highly recommend staying here. Great comfort, great value, and great people."

Lucky Tuna
"A great location, on the first coastline. There is a great restaurant at the hotel where the rail is golden hands! It is very delicious."
Zimmer Rest
"The hotel is nice from the outside, in the rooms there are ants running on the beds! The location is good - to the main road - 300-500 meters, to the sea 500 meters"
Tartaruga Beach Unawatuna
"Great hotel great service fantastic location for being in Unawatuna, thank you"
Kaju Green Eco Lodges
"Stunning place for staycation! 7 min to the beach Kayaking, massage, and beautiful swimming pool. Will come again!!"
Villa Rumassala Luxury Chalets Unawatuna
"Pros: The room was spacious and well-equipped, with complimentary drinks and snacks in the fridge. The environment was also beautiful. The staff service was excellent. Cons: Check-in took a bit long, and there were two frightening power outages in the middle of the night. Our room was on the 4th floor, with no elevator, so we had to climb stairs. Also, there was construction next door, which was a bit noisy in the afternoon."
Sergeant House Boutique Villa & Private Beach
"Sergeant House was an absolute treasure! Beautiful accomodation, stunning pool and wonderful staff. I would not hesitate to stay again."
Era Beach
"Had a wonderful experience at Era Beach. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect. Great amenities and smooth check-in made the stay even better. Highly recommend!"
southern grace unawatuna
"Great value for price. Gave 4 for service only because I had to ask for things that should have been there (e.g. towel), but they were promptly taken to the room. The owner is very kind and responsive. Get the room with the garden view, you are gonna get a jungle, it is awesome."
Elaya Resort Unawatuna
"We chose this hotel because it's new and recently opened. We really love the Unawatuna location; the ocean is great for swimming in the summer, and there are plenty of restaurants around. When we first walked into the hotel, it was a 'wow' effect – amazing design, lighting, fresh flowers, a fountain, beautiful new furniture, and friendly staff. We booked a sea view room and enjoyed it every day; it was incredibly beautiful! For breakfast, there was everything you could want, and the chef could prepare extra dishes upon request. For our child, they made pancakes, porridge, and eggs – all delicious. They offer buggy service to the beach. The only downside throughout our entire stay was the room cleaning. For some reason, even with minimal hotel occupancy, they would come to clean exactly when our child was taking a nap during the day. We mentioned it many times, but they never seemed to remember. Also, when we asked for a buggy pick-up from the beach, they sometimes ignored calls or just said "sorry." I believe these are minor issues that can be fixed, and the hotel management will sort everything out over time. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay! We would gladly return again! Thank you!"
Nooit Gedacht Heritage Hotel (Original Dutch Governors House)
"The nature is very wild in this place and you will be able to see a lot of animals in the garden. The service was fine. Be prepared for a lot of mosquitoes and flies, so you would want to have mosquito spray close by. We had chipmunks, monkeys, peacocks and lizards close to our room. The pool and garden were just fine. The hotel of older age, but with a lot of special charm from this fact and the dark wooden furniture."
Hotel Panorama
"Very good. Very close to the beach. There is nothing to do at the beach"
Miss Ceylon Unawatuna
"My wife and I stayed a Miss Ceylon for four days, including New Year’s Eve. TL/DR: a perfect place to stay, with exceptionally delightful apartments. In detail. The phrase “room” does the accommodation a disservice; each apartment is huge, very well appointed and peaceful. We had a family room by the pool, which was set over two floors. There are baths in every one; in ours it was in a private garden. There’s just 12 rooms so it’s very private. Perfect for a group party! Food - The buffet breakfast was brilliant. The food menu was limited and ok; I do think there’s a real opportunity for Miss Ceylon to make more of evening dining experiences. Almost everyone went out. The team - Everyone was so kind and helpful, constantly bringing us fresh iced water by the pool, and smiling, and never pressurising us. It’s more like a private rental than a ‘hotel.’ The location: It’s a 15-min tuk tuk ride out of town, in the rice fields. As a consequence, it’s utterly peaceful, surrounded by nature. We’d also been provided a scooter (we paid for it) which meant we could easily get about. I highly recommend Halo Cafe for breakfast or lunch. Truly the best non-Sri Lankan faire we’ve had. Overall. One the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had, anywhere in the world."
La Veranda di Serena
" As shown on pictures and better! Room overlooking the ocean, small private beach , great for swimming and sunbathing. Breakfast is so delicious (traditional string hoppers and dal - spicy lentil soup ) , fresh smoothy , big platter of fresh fruit and Sri Lankan coffee ! You basically don’t need more till dinner . Chandana and his family are great host and can accommodate any needs and wishes you may have."
Thaproban Pavilion Resort and Spa
"It was booked for my friends and they loved the ambiance of the resort. Well worth it"
