When we checked in we were told that the pool was closing at 3.30pm that day (check in from 3pm). This was the main reason for us choosing this hotel. We should have been notified of this. We'd have stayed elsewhere for half the price had we known. Nobody apologised, or seemed bothered.

Fabulous historical hotel , excellent room and bed was very comfortable. The staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful. Our only concern was the quality of the restaurant. The menu was weak and the quality of food was not as good as expected in a four star hotel. This is a shame as the hotel overall was first class , we would return, but very much doubt we’d use the restaurant unless it can Make improvements.
A special mention to the lady on the front desk , who was extremely attentive and cheerful.

the hotel is based in a old Scottish manor house which gives it atmosphere. Rooms confortable and clean.. Grounds are pretty. Can recomend the scramble egg and salmon choice on breakfast Menu. Close (still need a car) to the park and ride tram so centre of Edinburgh easily reached. Staff are friendly and good.

I was really unhappy with the overall quality of the facilities. The room assigned "67" was extremely hot and there was no way to cool the room down (it was not a warm time of year for our visit). The bathroom had mold on the upper corners and in some of the grouting. Room cleaning was substandard as not enough towels were left after cleaning.

The room was far from the lobby, and there were many stairs, so it was difficult to carry my luggage. It was nice to have a drink served when my friend visit me in the lobby.
