Hotel Schaepkens van St Fijt

Stayed here as part of a festive coach holiday and enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and we felt welcomed. Our room was comfortable and clean and even on Christmas Day the housekeeping staff were working and gave us a little Christmas gift too....a nice touch. There are no drink making facilities in the rooms but we took our own kettle etc. To buy drinks at the bar you need to buy tokens at reception (20 euro for 25 tokens) .....drinks then have a token value. Strange at first but you soon get used to it. The food at both breakfast and dinner is buffet style and there is plenty of it! You will certainly not go hungry! We enjoyed the food.....and it was fun trying new things! The hotel itself is about 10/15 minute easy walk into town so is well situated. All in all a very pleasant festive stay in The Netherlands.

The towels were waffle type didn't dry properly they were also smelly and not in a nice way. The food was variable at best. Nothing was labelled so difficult to say what you were eating. The staff were unfriendly and at times rude. Outside looked nice but that was were it finished.

Rooms are basic, no kettle in room, cushions not pillows beds quite uncomfortable food was horrible and cold, no explanation of what you’re eating, no tea or coffee unless it’s breakfast! You have to buy tokens at reception if you want drinks which are 25 for €20, and a small class of Pepsi is 3 tokens No where to go if you smoke, unless you stand outside the front door, can’t sit on the bar terrace unless you buy a drink from the bar! Most of the staff are quite rude, unhelpful and quite arrogant. When you asked for anything it was like we were an inconvenience All in all a terrible experience, I can honestly say if you want a experience in the city then stay somewhere else To the owners all I would like to say is if you do actually read this is maybe you want to be friendly to your customers and help not think about the lining of your pockets

The outside looks nice shame I can’t say the same for the inside! Checked in fine. Room Got to the room it was very outdated and dirty there was hair in the bathroom. The beds are uncomfortable, pillows are square cushions not ideal. The toilet is so high it’s hard to get on. No drinking facilities within the room. Tv was the only good thing about the room. Lifts are poor. Food The food for dinner and breakfast are unlabelled so you don’t know what you’re eating and was of poor quality made a few of us poorly. Staff A select few were polite and very helpful the rest were rude! Unless you like extremely awful tea, coffee or alcohol (tea total) please do not expect to be able to drink! They charge €2 for tap water. Bar The bar has only the bare minimum of soft drinks to offer a SMALL Pepsi is €3 and the rest of the drinks are €9. However you cannot pay with cash only silly bingo tokens that you pay €20 for 25 tokens. If you manage to find your own drinks that you may actually drink from outside of the hotel do not expect to be able to sit down outside. Oh no you will be threatened to be watched on CCTV and be have to deal with the receptionists awful attitude. All in all I would not recommend to stay here. Location is good but I believe that you will not enjoy your experience staying within the facility. I do believe management will disregard this review and not respond but I do believe if you are visiting to attend the Christmas markets and are paying an average price of €135 a night then you deserve better than this.

I was on a business trip but this is obviously a hotel for old retired tourists. There was live music very loud in the garden that I could hear in my room with windows closed. Impossible to work or sleep.

I've stayed here twice now and really like it. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the town centre and is handy for the station. It is set in an attractive spacious garden with lots of seating, and there is a secure car park. We have found the staff to be friendly and helpful on both our visits. Rooms are clean and nicely furnished. Would recommend without hesitation.

When we arrived at 5pm the rooms had not been cleaned from the previous occupiers, and were still not ready at 7pm, when we all (a coach load of 28) had to go for our meal, tired, unwashed and unchanged. Our room was very obviously budget, but would have been acceptable (just) if the bathroom had been up to normal European standards. Tiny shower, not cleaned properly, a trip hazard in an unclean doorway and a toilet that is hung so high on the wall it would make an excellent urinal but was rather difficult for short females, who had to sit with feet dangling approx. 6 inches above the ground.

Welcoming, friendly, spotlessly clean, rooms a little small but beds very comfortable and showers good. Very large car park. We stayed here with three coaches of children but hotel was quiet and meals superbly organised. Food was copious and excellent. Eat as much as you like buffet with lots of fruit and vegetables. Hannah in the dining room with her big smile is a particular delight. Thank you for a great week.

Its lovely but outdate hotel (literally stopped on time). The hotel looks great from the exterior once you go to your bedroom the difference is amazing. The rooms were not clean, the towels were smelly, the lampshade was broken. The rooms were stuffy. We had a dog, they charged us even though the website says dogs are free of charge. It was like going back in time. Breakfast was ok. Would not recommend staying here unless you get a deal for 50 euros.
