My wife and I visited the holy city of Varanasi for the first time. While looking for accommodation, we settled on the Heritage Inn. And for good reason. The hotel is located on a quiet side street, away from the roar of traffic, which is important as it's particularly loud here. The reception staff, and the hotel staff in general, were very helpful and friendly. We checked in quickly.
The room had all the amenities for a comfortable stay. By Indian hotel standards, everything was very good. Yes, there were a few minor issues, but they were quickly overlooked.
There's a rooftop restaurant with an open terrace offering stunning views of the old city and the Ganges River. We had breakfast included, the standard hotel breakfast: Indian or European dishes. We also came here for lunch and dinner. The food is delicious and takes only a short time to prepare. Most importantly, it's not spicy at all (maybe that's important to some). The restaurant staff is very polite and efficient, and everything is quick and to the point. The reason I chose this hotel is because it's very close to the river at Assi Ghat, yet it's also far from the city center, where, believe me, life is SO hectic that it can easily overwhelm your nerves. Here, on the outskirts of the old city, it's much, MUCH quieter.
If you, like us, want to visit Varanasi but don't want to be in the thick of it, then Heritage Inn is the place for you.
