We had a wonderful stay at FURU and would definitely recommend staying there. The location is great, making it easy to travel to different parts of Lofoten. We stayed at an apartment, which was simple but had everything one needs (and very clean). Friendly staff and what sticks out most is the Cafe providing also vegan/vegetarian food options (and everything absolutely delicious!).

Very chill and welcoming atmosphere. Clean kitchen, bathroom and the rest. Clearly well organised and thoughtful owners. Also, everything is so pretty. Little/big drawings on walls, cute booknooks etc. Don't forget the outside area, can't do anything wrong with this surrounding nature of course, but the hammocks, little paths and benches make enjoying said nature even better. I've only stayed in a dorm, sturdy bunk beds, no need to be afraid to fall of a wonky ladder, very nice. Helpful and kind staff/volunteers.

Nice place, we stayed with our campervan. Shower and toilet in the hostel was good and clean. Nice to walk through the garden to the lake. Very nice staff, all willing to help to make it a good experience. Also a good kitchen available, we did not use as we have the camper.

The whole place feels more like a home than a hostel, the hosts are lovely, the volunteers are lovely. There’s always heaps of people to hang out with and do activities with, especially the volunteers. And plenty of beautiful things to do alone too - the walk around the lake was lovely It had the most amazing atmosphere

It was the greatest hostel in the most beuatiful landscape i‘ve ever been. I am very thankful for the time. There is even an second hand store in the hostel and a very cozy living room , there is an guitar and board games, which is a good opportunity to spend great evenings with the other guests. Furthermore the hostel has a clean kitchen where u can cook solo or as well together with the other guests. As an solo travler it is very easy to meet new people there. I saw an muse in the garden- which was a great experience as well. I would say it is cheap for what u get. Thanks for the stay.

The food is always great at Furu and so are the personnel. It it made with love and it is not like any other place to eat. It has great surroundings great for a swim and the indoor areas are cosy, with my multiple areas yo relax or read, for stillness or talk.

Decent and clean apartment but it was different to the one in the photos that we booked. It was clean. Only annoying bit was the bathroom drain was blocked and there was no dish soap. Overall, great location to see the northern lights and cute surroundings with a lake at 100m.

From the very first glimpses of the hostel it us very obvious that the owners are experienced travellers and know exactly the needs & wishes of fellow travellers. Not only have they created a very practical basecamp (bus stop in front of the door plus many of other great services!). They also have put heaps of love for small but beatiful details in the renovation of the building. I really like their philosophy behind running these place and got to experience some very good vibes there. Tusend takk, I wish I could have stayed longer! Ps: with loads of wet kayaking gear the hot and very efficient drying room for shoes and all kinds of outdoor gear was very helpful for me!

Liked the lakeside location and coziness. Stayed in one of the double bedrooms 3 nights. Everything was good but there are signs letting you know of quiet times due to noise carrying throughout the building very easily. Unfortunately, not everyone adhered to the quiet times and I was woken up multiple times throughout my stay with people moving around, talking, and slamming doors. Something to consider if you’re a light sleeper.

Lovely, cosy hostel with a great vibe. The communal areas are excellent, everyone who works, volunteers and stays there are ace, there are fun little events on some nights (ie. a bonfire with marshmallows, quiz/music bingo). The lake out the back is gorgeous. The hostel is cleaned daily with great standards (except the bathroom floor mats, see negative point #2. I also worked in the co-working loft here which was great. There are screens with HDMI cables but you'll need to bring your own mouse/keyboard if you require those. The kitchen is great. It can be a little snug, but fine if there are up to 4 people in there. Has 2 stoves (8 hobs in total), a microwave, toaster, 2 ovens, most kitchen utensils that you could require. Also, the carrot cake in the cafe is the best carrot cake on earth. There are a few areas which let the hostel down ever so slightly, hence only rated 'very good'. To make it 'excellent', the following would help:- 1. Extra bathrooms. There are 2 (relatively large) bathrooms per floor. Each floor has I'd imagine around 20 people on it (14 people in dorms + a few private rooms). Waiting for the bathroom during 'rush hours' (morning and evening) is a nightmare. It would be much more preferable to make the bathrooms smaller and have more - each floor needs at least one more bathroom, preferably 2 more. Additionally, a couple of toilets with sinks on their own would be great, for those who just need to nip in for the loo or to brush their teeth without waiting for someone to finish showering. 2. One of the showers on my floor leaked really badly and floods the floor. Fluffy bathroom mats are put down fresh each day once it is cleaned, but these get wet really quickly when people shower, and in the bathroom with the leaking shower, absolutely sodden. It is quite disgusting having to step on a drenched shower mat. I'd recommend having a little store of them in the bathrooms for people to replace when they get that wet, and an area to put the wet ones. 3. Storage room in the dorms. As someone who travels (solo) a lot, and has spent a lot of time in dorms, this is really essential. The dorms are great in that each bed has a privacy curtain, a little shelf, socket and light. There is also a small locker available for each bed - big enough to store your valuables (bring your own padlock). Other than that, there is absolutely nowhere to store your bag. I was in a 6-bed dorm, and peoples bags were just everywhere and anywhere. Most people staying in the room mentioned this. FURU really needs to find a way to make space for peoples bags. Honestly, it would have been much better for it to just be a 5 bed dorm, and the space of one of the beds is just big lockers for bags. Alternatively, if they could make the bottom bunk panelling smaller (which I think should be possible), it would be possible to fit large drawers under the bed to put bags into. This is really really key. 4. In my dorm, we couldn't open the windows far at all. In the h

Best carrot cake in Norway (6 euros) . I waited my friend who wanted to have a shower (about 5 euros, because we were just passing by). Very friendly staff makes this place great, very welcoming and warm feeling just for passing by.

We had a nice evening, night, and morning at Furu. We spent our last 24 hours there of a weeklong Lofoten trip, so may have taken more advantage of some of their facilities and resources if we'd stayed there earlier on in the trip. The employees were mostly accommodating, but it felt to some degree that they were more interested in talking to each other than engaging with the guests. The hostel is clean, cozy, and designed to give guests a comfortable and flexible stay. We had a private room, so can't say anything about the experience of the shared rooms. Our bed was super comfortable and we found the room spacious enough for our things. Each floor has two bathrooms. Our biggest complaint had to do with this—in the evening and morning there were lines of people waiting to use the showers/bathrooms on each floor. It would be useful to have at least one bathroom per floor without a shower, so that you can use the restroom without waiting for people who are showering. We didn't eat dinner there but had a well-priced glass of wine in the evening and a yummy porridge for breakfast. The kitchenette downstairs was well-equipped with utensils and plates/bowls/cups but could certainly use a bit more space and tools—especially a sink.

This is an unusual and off-beat venue. Our welcome was extremely friendly and they serve good food. We had booked a ‘designer apartment.’ Beware of the euphemism….this is a block of 4 wooden units…no problem with that. We had two bedrooms, a large shower, kitchen and terrace. The beautiful lake is just a 1 minute walk away. Our only problem was the previous visitor had a white haired dog they had allowed to use the sofa. Every time we got up from the sofa our clothes were covered in white hairs - these would have been invisible on the fabric to the cleaners. This is not a comment about the staff more about the previous visitor!
