Austria Trend Hotel Europa Wien

Stayed at Austria Trend Hotel Europa Wien for two nights. Overall impression: Pros: • Excellent location — right on the pedestrian street and only a 3-minute walk to St. Stephen’s Cathedral. All major attractions within the Inner Stadt are within easy walking distance. • The double bed actually consists of two separate mattresses, so you won’t disturb each other during sleep. • Two separate duvets provided, which is convenient. Cons: • The room had a musty smell upon entry; I had to open the window to air it out. • Since the hotel faces the pedestrian street, it’s extremely noisy — crowds during the day, drunk people shouting at night, and in the early morning hours, street sweepers and sanitation workers make it impossible to sleep. • If you close the window to block the noise, the room becomes very stuffy because the bathroom ventilation doesn’t work at all. • The bathtub design is awkward, with mold visible on the tiles. No matter how carefully you shower, water still splashes onto the bathroom floor. • The toilet flush is weak and can’t even handle toilet paper properly. • The carpet is dirty, and the fabric chairs are stained as well. For a hotel charging over €200 per night, guests deserve a cleaner and more comfortable room environment.

The breakfast is good and the staff is very nice.  The location of the hotel is at the centre of Vienna and easy to go everywhere.

The hotel is in the perfect location for all the major sites. Everything is walkable. There are a vast selection of eateries close by to suit every pocket. The Plachutta’s  Neu Markt (next door) serves the best Wiener Schnitzel …especially  if you don’t want to walk far after a late arrival.  The hotel itself is very clean and functional. The Reception staff were lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. Ask for a high floor to avoid any late night street noise. Note: the cathedral bells toll at 7am for early Mass but for us it added to our stay in the heart of this stunning city.
