Traditional hotel in a former monastery. Friendly staff that speaks several languages. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, although a bit outdated. In house restaurant is a good alternative for dinner, but the breakfast is disappointing. Be aware of the location as it is a little removed from the city center.

The hotel was so cold. We asked for extra blankets and heat, but it never got warm. They told us it was as warm as it gets. I slept with a hat on and my coat over me. It’s probably nice is the summer, but was just too cold to be comfortable.

Very nice environment and excited to stay in a real monastery. Breakfast is great. Not far from the major attractions.

Nice place to say when visiting Volterra Nice place, just a bit off the historic city. Room was good and spacious. Breakfast was not great but fair enough.

The hotel is very serene & quiet. The staff is friendly & always helpful The rooms are basic, clean, large & comfortable. Our bathroom was huge, and had a great overhead heater. I loved the outside areas, beautiful courtyards. Unfortunately the evenings were a bit cool to enjoy them fully. There is about a 20 minute walk to the center of Volterra. It's flat until you get to the city walls! We enjoyed diner both nights at the restaurant. The food was delicious & reasonably priced. I hope to return to Volterra & would love to stay at this hotel again.

Despite some deficiencies, I’d still give Chiostro a top rating. (Booking it you know it’s not a 5 star resort) Our room was spacious,clean & comfortable. The grounds are beautiful. Parking free, safe & right outside It was an easy walk to the beautiful city of Volterra. The dining room is excellent. We ate both dinners there. The breakfast provided was also excellent. All the staff was wonderful & so helpful. The internet in our room was spotty. The staff know & that is being addressed. We learned that the internet is a problem throughout Volterra. We were very pleased & would love gladly return to Chiostro delle Monache & Volterra.
