Haka House Wanaka Reviews

The gravel leading up to and around the hostel is a really poor design choice. Don't most guests arrive with luggage? It was so difficult dragging my suitcase over those stones. Plus, the hostel rooms are in a separate building in the courtyard, seemingly made of wood and corrugated metal. It got incredibly hot at night, and there was no air conditioning, making it impossible to sleep. On the bright side, it's very close to the lake. I also paid more than the usual rate for my booking, which only added to my dissatisfaction.

The hotel is located by the lake, though our room was a bit further back. The room itself was on the smaller side but perfectly clean, and for peak season, the price was reasonable. The communal kitchen was a nice touch. Having breakfast right by the lake was fantastic, and it's clear the lake is just a stone's throw away.

This is my second stay here. Even though it's a hostel, it's very clean and quiet. Parking across the street is free, so you don't have to park inside the hotel. We booked a bunk bed for two, which was great value for money compared to a king room. Next time I visit New Zealand, I'll only play in Queenstown and Wanaka, and spend more days in Wanaka.

An excellent experience, well worth the trip. The front desk staff were very enthusiastic. Check-in was super smooth, and I'll definitely come back again. Wanaka is also incredibly beautiful!

Compact cabin. Great location. 2mins from the lake side. Onsite parking would be $10 but can just park on street. Shower room is a bit narrow.

The renovation is very new, and it's very convenient to get to the supermarket.

The location was very convenient and easy to get around. The view of the lake from the common area is absolutely stunning! Can park on the other side of the road for free which is quite easy.

Wānaka Hama House, my worst ever stay. Don’t book this place at all cost. There are bugs everywhere. Noisy, no aircon. Room is next to carpark. Totally disgusting.

The kitchen is fantastic, complete with a gas stove. The location is also great, and the room is clean.

Great location, well-equipped facilities, and good hygiene. One minor issue is the cobblestone path leading to the entrance, which isn't very luggage-friendly, and there are a few steps to navigate.

Good location. Lots of free parking just opposite the street. If you can download their app, check-in is very easy.

The location is close to a large park, the lake and town. Our room had a wonderful view. There is luggage storage for early checkins. We didn't use the kitchen, but it looked great. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The room have a nice lake view and comfy. There is a common kitchen for cooking purpose and lounge to rest. The only small comment is that there is no free luggage storage.

The hostel is nice but the price was outrageous even during peak season
