The hotel's location is fantastic, right at the subway entrance, making travel incredibly convenient. The staff at the door were very welcoming and helped us with our luggage. The housekeeping staff also did a great job, cleaning our room promptly every day.

The breakfast was exactly what you'd expect from an American hotel, just like in the pictures. There's a Subway right across the street and a large local supermarket about a 5-minute walk away, which was super convenient for stocking up on souvenirs and other necessities. I rented a bike, and I highly recommend it for cost-effective sightseeing around D.C. – no need to take an Uber every time!

The hotel is super close to many popular attractions, all within walking distance. There's a shared parking lot, but you can't park your car yourself; you have to leave it at the building's entrance for a hotel attendant to valet park it. The hotel itself is on the second floor, and there isn't a very noticeable sign downstairs. It's also near a subway station, making public transport to many places incredibly convenient. However, I did feel a bit unsafe in the evenings due to the perceived lack of security.

Hotels in Washington are generally much cheaper than in New York, so I didn't have high expectations for this hotel given its great price. However, it actually exceeded them, apart from being a bit too close to the train station, which meant some noise from the trains. Everything else was really good. The room layout was very practical; it didn't feel small for a family of three. The location was also super convenient, just one metro stop from Union Station, and the metro exit is right outside. Dining was easy too, with fast food and a 7-Eleven downstairs, and several restaurants within a 10-minute walk. A taxi to DCA airport cost $20-30 and took 15 minutes if there was no traffic. Getting to all the downtown attractions was easy by metro or taxi.

The hotel environment is really nice, and the room is large and quite new. What's especially convenient is the surrounding area – Five Guys is right across the street, and there's a Domino's and 7-Eleven right next door. Highly recommended!

Room is typical of Courtyard. Located right beside the Subway Station. Room faces the subway tracks and Amtrak tracks. If you like trains, this is the hotel to stay at.

Great location - same building as the metro station is and within 10 minute ride to DC Centre. Clean hotel. No frills. Smaller rooms only due to a large couch in the room which can be moved. Lots of eateries in the neighborhood and across the hotel including Trader Joes and 7 eleven. Also a restaurant and a bar in the hotel.

Disappointing Stay – Not Up to Usual Marriott Standards
I’ve stayed at several Marriott properties before, but unfortunately, this location did not meet the usual standards. From the moment we entered, the lobby had an unpleasant odor—often a foul smell or the strong scent of weed—which was off-putting.
To make matters worse, we found a cockroach in our room, which was very unsettling. At check-in, we were initially given the wrong room type, and correcting this took a frustrating amount of time. The front desk staff seemed either unsure or uninterested in resolving the issue efficiently.
If you’re traveling with a cat, be aware that the pet fee is extremely high at $65 per day. On the plus side, I’d recommend looking into nearby parking garages, which were more convenient than expected.
Overall, I would only suggest staying at this hotel if you have no other options.

The hotel is located behind Union Station, next to a relatively new residential area. Although it's called the Capitol Hotel, it's actually about a half-hour walk from the Capitol. The room window overlooks the station tracks, but thankfully the soundproofing is good, so you can't hear the trains passing by. The room is large and comfortable. It has a refrigerator and microwave, which solves many problems. It's right next to the Noma Gallaudet University subway station, where many people commute to work every morning. Washington has a high density of Black people, and the area around the hotel was teeming with them. Homeless people were everywhere, some oddly shaped and unkempt, and one even approached me asking for cigarettes. Groups of Black children seemed to be idling around, making me feel unsafe, so I didn't linger near the hotel entrance. Within 50 meters of the hotel are a 7-Eleven, Domino's, Subway, and a Deli store, making life quite convenient. When I checked in, the air conditioning in the public areas, including the lobby and corridors, was broken. Two temporary air conditioner units were stuck in the center of the lobby, with two thick pipes running straight to the ceiling—very incongruous and ineffective, making it very stuffy. There's a Starbucks in the lobby, and breakfast is provided by Starbucks (see picture). It's amazing.
