Holiday Inn Express WASHINGTON DC DOWNTOWN by IHG

The room was generously sized and kept very clean and hygienic. Unfortunately, the hairdryer in the room was out of order, which was a bit disappointing. Breakfast was modest, but the quality and portion size were more than adequate.

The room itself was fine. It was comfortable, though not perfectly clean and it didn’t feel very new. The biggest problem was the noise. The air conditioner was unbelievably loud, and the refrigerator next to the bed was also very noisy. I had to fall asleep wearing headphones. I called reception because I thought something was wrong with my room, but they told me this was normal. The bathroom also had an automatic motion sensor, so the light turned on every time you entered and there was no way to disable it. This was especially annoying at night. Breakfast was included, but it was very basic and disappointing, with almost no choice. I wouldn’t expect a good breakfast here. The location was convenient, around a 15–20 minute walk from Union Station.
