Hemingways Watamu ★★★★★
"An exceptional experience that never disappoints. I last stayed at Hemingways 4 years ago. The experience after 4 years is still exceptional. Heminways Watamu has differentiated between great customer service and great customer experience. From the security guard at the gate, the reception staff, the wait staff, the pool attendants, the Supervisors, housekeeping staff, the guards within the premises; the great client obsession was the same. Seamless experience throughout! Hemingways is definitely my Watamu number #1 gateway."
The One ★★★★
"Dining at Watamu Bay was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We sat in the outdoor dining area, which had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Our server was attentive and polite. For food, the dish was cooked to perfection with rich, fresh flavor. Overall, the prices are fair for the high quality, and I strongly recommend this place for families / date nights / food lovers."
Temple Point Resort ★★★★
"Absolutely loved our stay here. The resort is stunning, very clean, lots of room to wonder around without having to leave. Private beaches, yoga spots, great food and service, the staff are all amazing. Room's were lovely and large, with comfy beds. I really loved the feeling of feeling in nature there. They also have the coolest sunset bar to go and chill at. We used the dive school which was up to great standards, very well run. My sister used the gym / fitness classes which are on every day as an option. She did say the pilates class was very intense (not relaxing!) I loved how quiet it was here, no children, no parties, so a great place to read a book in silence and sleep well at night. Oh and the beauty parlour is FANTASTIC, we had massages and facials there and all said they were the best treatments we had ever had! If you are looking to completely relax in comfort, this is the place to stay!"
Kobe Suite Resort ★★★★★
"Very disappointing stay After a 3-hour drive from Diani — where we’d been staying at Ocean Village Club (fantastic) — the welcome here felt distinctly lukewarm. We checked into one of the “Standard Suites” (No. 22), the only room available for our six-night stay. “Standard” is generous: it was located on the top floor of the rear block opposite the staff room and felt more like a budget apartment than a hotel suite — except I’ve stayed in far nicer budget rooms. The bedroom was essentially a concrete box with no practical window, no balcony access, and no view. The décor was dated, the bedding was poor (including visible stains), the bed was extremely firm, and there were no mosquito nets despite there being mosquitoes. The so-called living area had no air conditioning, making it unusable. For £290 per night, this was extremely poor. The bathroom was equally underwhelming: very little natural light, hot, smelly, and dingy, with a shower that didn’t really work and made a whirring noise. These are basic standards. When we raised concerns at reception within the hour of arriving and the mismatch between reality and the photos on *********** — staff seemed confused rather than apologetic or solution-oriented. We were told the hotel was fully booked, yet when I checked availability myself, I found space in a “Deluxe Garden View Suite” for 4 out of our 6 nights. There was still no acknowledgment of our feedback or follow up to check if we were happier. Another major issue is that the hotel openly welcomes non-guests to use the facilities. That may be commercially beneficial for the owner but it comes at the expense of the private atmosphere you’d expect from a hotel marketed as it is. There’s no priority for paying guests when it comes to sunbeds or tables. Beds are snapped up quickly in what feels like a Benidorm-style towel-reservation scramble — not what you expect from a hotel presenting itself as five-star (“best hotel 5* Watamu Kenya” on its website) and one of, if not the most expensive, in Watamu. On one day we couldn’t get a single sunbed anywhere, and again there was no apology or effort to resolve the situation. After two nights in the dungeon, we moved to a “Deluxe Garden View Suite.” Aside from slightly more natural light (and, thankfully, a bedroom window), it was hard to see what justified the higher price. Again, no one checked in afterwards to ask whether we were happier. The dolphin excursion arranged through the hotel was also disappointing. The boat arrived late, we nearly missed the dolphins, and then spent two hours chugging along before borrowing fuel from another boat because we almost ran out. At £150, it felt poor value — booking directly with local beach operators would likely have been cheaper and more reliable. Sad when you’d expect the hotel-arranged option to be the best experience (that is if they cared about their reputation). Service throughout was inconsistent: staff were often slow, occasionally rude, and bi"
Visiwa Beach Resort ★★★★
"Hmmm to say I’m disappointed is an understatement m, no gym the breakfast is very limited and it’s supposed to be a buffet you can count in your fingers what they put out there towels look more brownish than white no fresh water to bath with I can literally go on and on the flip side I like their salad"
The Charming Lonno Lodge Watamu ★★★★
"Lonno lodge is heaven! Tranquility and elegance combined with the beauty of the ocean. Silvia is so warm and hospitable and made us feel at home. We had amazing stay there with lots of cocktails and delicious food!"
Medina Palms ★★★★★
"The reception and staff were very friendly, we checked into neatly done rooms with the assistance of the warm staff. I loved the my hotel stay and the experience in Watamu. The orientation was professional and comprehensive. Top choice of hotel when thinking about Watamu. "
Twiga Beach Resort & Spa ★★★
"This hotel is gorgeous in terms of service, cleanliness, food, staff, location (directly on the beach). A special tribute to the manager Angela who was so caring and giving all the information we needed. The entertainment team is also very attentive, not intrusive at all. If you are looking for a nice, relaxing holiday this is a place to stay!"

GK Palm Resort Watamu
"Wow! This is a place my wife and I would like to stay again, especially once the WiFi signal is stabilized and speeds optimized, which I was assured is being sorted out. This affected my room and is the only reason for the missing star. :( The staff is very responsive. Lydia, the receptionist, went above and beyond to cater to us. She is the undisputed anchor of the resort. The rest of the staff were friendly and always checked in whenever we passed by them. The rustic Italian architecture and ground landscaping transfers you to a different world and time. We made a few suggestions about room lighting to evoke a better ambience but that was just personal taste. Another guest might scoff at it! The pool is well maintained. We enjoyed several swims even though I'm nowhere near a master of the sport. Being the good swimmer that she is, my wife gave me some valuable lessons. Perhaps that's why I married her. :) The restaurant food quality was okay but there are some other options around like Ndoto Cafe, where we had some of the best chicken curry and local cuisines we've ever tasted in our lives. It's a hidden local gem, and only 2-minutes stroll away. Try it. GK Palms Resort anyone? Yes, please!!! Again? Yes and yes!!!"

"Our 5th time at this fantastic boutique hide away in Watamu. Only 8 rooms, so book in advance. Justin and his staff: Edward, Alex, Dama, Nema, Kapanger, Francis, Eric and Moses will look after you from arrival to departure. Nothing is too much trouble. Food great, rooms very clean and air conned. Pool lovely. If you are into sea fishing, Justin has his own boat. Kite surfing, he has his own kite surfing school. In fact, if you asked, Justin will sort it. Thank you Guys and see you all next year. Anthony & Trish Sanders"
Watamu Eco Villas
"This place is great value. It's set back from a busy road about 10 minutes drive from the gorgeous beaches at Watamu. Inside the lush green compound it's very peaceful. There's a nice swimming pool and a lovely open sitting / dining area where you can lounge and play games or read. The rooms are basic but clean and spacious and the bed was really comfortable. The staff are absolutely lovely, nothing is too much trouble. The food is great value as well. If you're looking for a way of experiencing the five star beaches of Watamu but on a tight budget, this is a great choice."
Barracuda Inn Resort
"We stayed at this property from 7 to 14 February. Beautiful sea, super friendly staff, good food. Our room was always clean and tidy, large, with air conditioning and a small terrace. We had a great time and recommend it to everyone. I don't understand the negative reviews."
Simba House Watamu - KENYA
Life Resort St. Thomas Royal Palm
"This place is a farce… miles away from nowhere with no facilities… we booked 2 self catering apartments and unfortunately we could do no self catering as there are no cooking dishes. Fridge did not work the first days. The cooker was rusted and ancient. One apartment didn’t even get a fridge or a cooker. Mosquito infested and no blankets to sleep with. I could go on and on as this place being the pits. Believe there are independent owners… so we got the pits! I had to send my kids to Malindi. We got another hotel on the actual Watamu but was given empty promises and then no delivery. Rude rude owner…."
Blue Rooms
Rafiki Village
"A very beautiful property, and I must say, very welcoming. I would have given it 4 stars, but honestly, the fact that they didn't clean the house on the second day left me a little perplexed. It must have been our fault, since we didn't want the manager to cook us dinner for €20. Otherwise... the staff were very kind and helpful. I would definitely return."
Watamu Adventist Beach Resort
"We were with the girl in a sea view room, and then we made the Safari with @latte_kenya_tours_and_safari and all the excursions. Isle of Love (in front of the resort), Sardinian two, Marafa, Gedi ruins, blue safari etc. All right!"
