Haiyue Jianguo Hotel

The room was neat and clean, the staff service was satisfactory, and the breakfast had a good variety. There was ample parking, and restaurants nearby were convenient. Across the street is the Shandong University branch campus, and you can even see the sea from the view.

I was very touched by the excellent service. I mentioned that the bedding felt too damp, and I even got a stomachache after lying on it for a short while. The lady at the front desk explained that I might not know, but Weihai is surrounded by the sea on three sides, so it's naturally humid. They changed the bedding, but the new set was still damp. I agreed, saying that Qingdao wasn't nearly as humid. As a solution, they provided a space heater, which I kept running. I wondered why the air conditioning couldn't be set to dehumidify, but it turned out the AC unit was about 30 years old and didn't have that option. They also gave me two heat packs, which was a thoughtful touch. For dinner, I ordered rice, but it was dry, like it was leftover from the day before. The seafood maoxuewang (spicy blood curd) was so unappetizing I could only manage two bites. When I spoke to the manager, he admitted it was true but said a refund wasn't possible, offering an 80% discount instead. My child ended up going hungry, which was a first for us at a hotel... At the buffet breakfast, the older guests had eaten most of the food by the time we arrived, and the replenishment was slow. It's probably because they host many tour groups and don't pay much attention to individual guests like us.

I stayed for four or five consecutive days, and it's a really great hotel. The location is excellent, making it very convenient to go out for meals, shopping, and more. The hotel facilities are very well-maintained. I've extended my stay.

This hotel is located right opposite Shandong University, Weihai Campus, which makes it very convenient for transportation. There are plenty of dining options nearby. However, the room facilities are old-fashioned, with a decor style from 30-40 years ago. The service is good, and staff are quick to respond, especially when we needed water in the hallway; they were happy to provide it. The breakfast, for 68 RMB, is quite rich, but during summer vacation, there were too many kids, making it very noisy, and the drinks weren't fresh juice. The dinner buffet, at 139 RMB, offers unlimited oysters, crayfish, and sashimi, which is pretty good value for money. Overall, the 600+ RMB price point feels a bit high.

This was a holiday trip, and both the hotel's front desk staff and the cleaning aunties were incredibly friendly and helpful! Even though the hotel is a bit older, the room had no strange smells. My only minor quibble is that it's not as high-tech as some newer places, but overall it was great, and the location is excellent. They even have a gym, which was super convenient when it rained and I couldn't go out for a walk. Oh, and the hotel's buffet dinner was absolutely delicious and well worth it! And very clean too!!
