We fell In love with the hotel Alpenrose! Our room in the chalet right next to the hotel was perfect. The room was a good size with lots of storage. And the balcony with a small table and two chairs gave us the most gorgeous view. But, what really sets this place apart from others is the staff. I wish I could remember names, but every single person was top notch. We had half board. I wasn’t sure what to expect. We were blown away by the food and the 5 star service . I am vegan and they always remembered and were very accommodating. We seriously didn’t want to leave. If you are considering the Alpenrose, don’t hesitate, do it. You can thank me later.

We were given a room that was of a much lower standard than the rooms on their website. It soon became clear we were put in the building that the staff was housed in (loud music, groups gathering at shift changes, signs of long-term occupation). We were on the top floor with no elevator and offered no help with our bags. The room was poky, aged, cramped, stuffy, with non-functioning lights and outlets. We asked at the desk if we could have a fan for the room and were refused, told that it would cool down in the evening. (Narrator: it did not) We tried to get some cross-breeze to help the stuffiness and heat, but that meant opening the hall door and giving up privacy, and opening window and letting in cigarette smoke from the staff after their shifts. It was miserable. I ended up trying to sleep under a damp towel. It's possible you could stay here an get a room as advertised and have a nice time; it's possible you could have our experience. You just don't know.

What an amazing hotel, with a lovely family owners, and great staff (Rui, Henrique, and others). I stayed in a single room with a balcony overlooking the mountains in the back of the hotel. The room is very functional, clean with a decent size bathroom. I truly enjoyed the amazing views of Lauterbrunnen valley at the front terrace of the hotel, especially having a nice beer after a good day of hiking! The hotel is about 5-7 min walk to the train station (downhill). Hotel can arrange a pick-up/drop-off when arriving or leaving with luggage. Breakfast spread was very good including made-to-order eggs. I opted for half board and dinner quality and choices were good – over my 4 days stay - at a reasonable price. Natalie at the restaurant provided an amazing service. Fantastic hotel, first class service!

We had a phenomenal stay here, everything was so perfect and we feel very lucky to have stayed in such a beautiful place. Staff lovely and very helpful. Highly recommend and we cannot wait to return! We stayed in apartment and the view was outstanding. Half board was wonderful too.

We returned to the Alpenrose for the first time in 16 years. It is still a very well run spotlessly clean comfortable and cosy family hotel - typically Swiss! We had a valley facing room with balcony The bathroom lived up to its name It had a bath which was great to soak in after a day out hiking. The service was excellent albeit a little formal at reception. We took the half board option together with a 5 day Jungfrau region rail/lift pass. We found the package excellent value especially given how expensive Switzerland is and always has been. The meals were good but I don’t think as good as the menu 15 years ago. The only downside for me is that the dining room ( renovated since our last stay) has something of a cafeteria feel to it. We also don’t like having to self serve coffee from a machine every morning. In this respect the hotel has lost a little of its highly personalized charm. It would also be a nice addition to have coffee/ tea machines in the bedrooms. I am a very early riser and crave a good cup of coffee at first light.
