So glad I choose this place! Stayed 4 nights and was wonderful. Very cute, cozy rooms that look just like pictures on their site. Bed was comfortable and is a perfect location for all attractions within the area! Owners truly care about this property and are very kind! Highly recommend!

Cary and his wife greeted us upon arrival and even offered us a complimentary drink, which was a wonderful touch. Beyond that, the entire experience was amazing. The cabin was very clean and well-maintained, and we had no complaints at all. When we needed additional towels, they provided more than expected and went out of their way to ensure we had a great Black Hills experience. The only suggestion I would make is adding a curtain or covering for the window in the door for a little extra privacy. Other than that, everything was excellent. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it!

So glad we found this place. It is centrally located in Hill City, which is 15-20 minutes from Keystone, Custer, and Mt. Rushmore. The lodge itself was great - the rooms were very clean, rather large (we had a separate sitting area with a table and two chairs), the beds comfortable, and the towels incredibly fluffy. The outdoor spaces were awesome - there was tons of seating, firepits, a grill, and even a pizza oven! I checked out the grill, they even keep it clean!! It would be so much fun to stay here with a large group, there isn't much to do in Hill City at night, but you unlike most hotels, you wouldn't even need to leave the lodge to all hang out together. Breakfast was convenient and nice to have, but nothing too special - donuts and bagels, and coffee. The only negative I can think of is that the shower is *tiny*. Other than that, the room and lodge itself were awesome, we loved our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful, welcoming lodge owners. Very comfortable, and nicely decorated room. Great location for visiting Black Hills, Custer State Park, and all the best sights. The owners helped us with directions and restaurants. A bit of road noise, but the conversations made you forget it. They are improving the lodge & cabins every year.

We absolutely loved our stay at Mountain View Lodge—it felt like a cozy home away from home nestled right in the heart of Hill City's stunning scenery. From the moment we arrived, everything about this place screamed thoughtful design and genuine hospitality. The rooms were impeccably clean, with spaces that made the most of every inch—clever storage solutions, natural light flooding in, and a layout that just flows perfectly for unwinding after a day of exploring Mount Rushmore or Custer State Park. Stepping outside onto the expansive deck was pure magic, too: tons of seating for lazy afternoons, and that fire pit? It became our evening ritual, roasting marshmallows under the stars while the Black Hills whispered around us. The beds? Oh man, they were a dream—super comfy with the plushest pillows imaginable. And those sheets... soft as butter and that beautiful blue color added such a serene vibe. We slept like rocks! Breakfast was a highlight too—fresh, hearty, and delicious, with options that hit the spot whether you're fueling up for hiking or just savoring a slow morning. But what really made it special were the owners. Warm, welcoming, and full of local tips that turned our trip into something unforgettable. They went above and beyond to make us feel right at home. If you're road-tripping through South Dakota, book this place—you won't regret it. It's the perfect blend of comfort, cleanliness, and charm. Can't wait to come back!

My family and I enjoyed our stay here. It was perfect for us (5 adults) it was close to the areas we wanted to visit. The beds were so comfortable and the owners had the room ready and warmed up for us, so when we arrived we were able to sleep comfortably. Loved the options for grilling or pizza oven. They also had a very nice deck with plenty of seating and fire pits. We will definitely keep this place as one of our top options when visiting SD again!

The owners are very friendly and helpful. It was like staying with old friends. Don't be put off by the proximity to the road: it was very quiet at night and we slept like babies.
