Rum Doodle, Windermere B&B

We stayed Friday to Sunday here and seriously could not find a single negative comment. From arriving to leaving all the staff were so nice with us, the room we stayed in (room 6) entitled us to breakfast served in the room. Presentation, delivery and taste were outstanding. Day one we ate the full English and day 2 the blueberry pancakes. The room was spotless and came with bath, shower and a 4 poster bed. The walk ro the lake was about 15 minutes downhill. The bed was so comfortable, no slamming doors, scraping chairs or busy roads. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

We are only 1 night in to a 2 night stay and it's one of the best places we have stayed (we have travelled quite a lot). It was easy to park when we arrived, a lady gave us the room key even though the room wasn't ready (we were an hour early) so we could walk in to Windermere. My wife had put 9:00am for breakfast but we were up earlier so the lady just did it straight away. Couldn't do enough for you. The location is great as well, 10 minutes to Bowness and 10 minutes to Windermere. Would stay here again 100%

Had a really fab stay at the Rum Doodle. The accommodation is centrally located between Bowness and Windermere. There are a choice of rooms and each one of them different, so advisable to check each one before booking, to make sure it meets your requirements. The room we had was at the rear of the building which was very quiet and was not overlooked. It was immaculate with it's decor & cleanliness, the bed was really comfy too. Breakfast served between 08:30 & 09:30, which was ideal for us. Two of the bedrooms have facilities for breakfast in the room, so well worth checking these out before booking, if this is a preference. The staff & owner of the Rum Doodle are extremely friendly, helpful and courteous, nothing was too much trouble during our stay. Would we return? that's a certainty!

Our room was lovely and spacious, with everything you could need, including toiletries, hairdryer, tea/ coffee and biscuits! The bed was very comfortable and the room was so clean. The staff were very kind and made us feel very comfortable. The breakfast was a good way to start our days, served between 8:30-9:30 with a good choice of cereals, fruit and warm cooked breakfasts. The woman who served us was so friendly. The location of the b&b was perfect for us, in between Windermere and Bowness, it was about a 15/20 minute walk to the centre with lots of pubs/ restaurants shops and the lake. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it!PS we were staying in room number 5 (wish)😊

Sunday 24th March 24 This establishment has to be one of the best ned and breakfast hotels in Windermere/Bowness We have been here servers times before and we have never been disappointed On this occasion we were in one of the attic room and the views from the roof lights were spectacular and we also had a lovely bath in the room which was quaint The room was spacious and well decorated One thing that is always very nice is the friendly welcome you get on arrival coupled with a brew and few biscuits But I think best if all is the wholesome breakfast that is served I had a Cumbrian breakfast and my wife always goes for the pancakes .

An excellent stay. Very friendly hosts, a comfortable room with great theming (especially if you have read the book) and a truly excellent breakfast. Also well located for walking into Windermere and Bowness and exploring the local area.

This hotel was exceptional. The rooms were spotless and very well kept. The service was efficient and breakfast was on time and lovely. Not too far from centre and an all over lovely experience. The bathrooms were very modern and clean. The beds were comfortable and spacious and to be honest I am very impressed and would 100% stay here again. It’s about a 15 minute walk from bowness which is full of shops and nice restaurants and the hotel is in a good location. This is perfect for a weekend get away:)

Just got back from a lovely two night stay at Rum Doodle for my husbands birthday. We had such a lovely time, and the birthday balloons and banner was such a nice touch. They were also very accommodating of us both being vegan, and even provided us with some vegan shortbread for when we checked in which was very much appreciated! The breakfast was served in our room and was so tasty - served by the most cheerful lovely lady whose name we didn’t manage to catch. The room itself was cosy and decorated nicely, and the bed was really comfortable with really nice bedding and pillows. The only suggestion we would make would be to maybe put a sign outside the front windows asking other guests not to smoke under the porch. As we were on the ground floor, both nights we had a really loud, coughing bloke stood right outside our windows smoking and coughing his guts up which isn’t exactly relaxing. It genuinely sounded like he was in the room with us he was stood that close lol! However I do sympathise as I know how some people can be and that even if you put a sign, it’s likely many would just ignore it!

My husband booked us 4 nights for my 40th and we absolutely loved it. The location is great, quick walk to Windermere and Bowness and a bus stop at the end of the road for Ambleside and the rest of the lakes. The building is beautiful and spotlessly clean. We were in room 6 which meant we enjoyed breakfast in our room each morning which we loved. The breakfast is excellent, we got hooked on the pancakes! Steve and team are lovely.
