We stayed in a classic double room. The room was well maintained and had what you need for a B&B stay. The bathroom had a large shower but no bath. We preffer showers to baths but some pople may not. The bed was comfy and the housekeeping staff were helpfull and friendly. The hotel is just behind the pub and you need to check in at the bar. We would use this hotel again if we were in the area.

very pleasant and good food freshly made, we had sandwiches and quiche which we enjoyed and the fresh tea in a pot was so nice in the early afternoon. The restaurant is well place near Highdown gardens. Go to the gardens first then enjoy this cafe nearby

We visited with friends after a walk. Staff very welcoming, coffee astronomical £4.45 for a cuppachino. Have never paid this amount for a cuppachino anywhere else and it didn’t taste great either. Think u need to review this. Pub is lovely and so are the staff.

We stayed at The Highdown over Christmas and it was lovely. As we were visiting family nearby for a few days, we were using it as a 'bed and breakfast' base and it was absolutely perfect! We previously stayed in the summer and spent the day exploring Arundel and Arundel Castle. The rooms are large and comfortable, and everything you could need is provided. It's really peaceful and a long way from the main road and street lights. Being there on Christmas Day felt odd (for us!) but the staff were fab and made it feel really special. We've previously had dinner at the restaurant several times - also excellent - and we're already booked for our next stay!

From the moment I emailed them to the afternoon tea itself they could not have been more helpful and understanding. It was a gathering of family in celebration of my mothers life instead of a funeral. It went smoothly and everyone thought it was a much better idea than a funeral. The staff were welcoming, empathetic, helpful and friendly. We could not have asked for me. Greatest thanks.

We stayed for a couple of nights with friends in dog friendly rooms. Our room was of a good size and welcoming. The quality of bedding, towels and amenities was outstanding. The bathroom was amazing and we just loved it. The dog bed, food and water bowls and treats were so very welcomed and a lovely touch. We arrived on a warm Sunday afternoon when it was very, very busy but the staff were working hard and it was understandable to wait every now and then for ones order. All the staff we met during out stay were professional, friendly and helpful. The management should be very proud of their team. All meals we had were of excellent good quality and good size. We would absolutely recommend the Highdown and we will return.

Will always be Sterns... and I guess a lot of party goers would recommend this as a perfect place for trip advisor... 10pm the underground would open...the lazer show would start .and the visuals on the old TVs would start swirling... the steps would sway around and we all had a great time. Call it what you like... it'll always be Sterns

Discovered by accident and what a great discovery it turned out to be. Great staff, very good rooms and amazing food…. Dinner was superb and great value for money. We will become regular visitors for dining out and overnight stays when we are un-inclined to travel too far from home.

I'll keep this brief. Cannot fault the superb quality of the sunday roast I recently enjoyed here. The service was excellent too and we all had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Will definitely be going there from now on.
