First of all, the hotel and the grounds are a fantastic venue for a wedding, which is why we were here. BUT... for the room we had, it was overpriced at £130 a night and that was the standard price, not just because it was a wedding (not sure if it was discounted). We had 2 single beds in the room, despite booking a double room. We would've pushed the beds together, however, they were separated by a nightstand that was screwed into the wall. I've been to hotels all around Europe and not had that. Next, the plug socket for the kettle was broken, the switch was broken and the broken piece was left by the kettle. We didn't use this so it didn't really affect us but it was poor nonetheless. Next, the window was useless as the handle was broken so it didn't lock properly, which is surely a security issue. Lastly, the WIFI. It really does depend on the room you're in. The first room, it was awful but the second was faultless. We raised the bed issue with managment and they did switch our rooms (which I will discuss below) but they were perplexed when we mentioned that the nightstand was screwed in, surely they should know this ? The room we moved to was infinitely better. Double bed, better TV position & bigger size. Overall, the venue is great as a wedding location but avoid staying here, just stay in Shrewsbury.
