Xuegu Nannan Homestay

Having stayed at hotels in both Xuexiang and Xuegu, this guesthouse in Xuegu is definitely the king of value for money! Let me tell you about its advantages: 1) Underfloor heating throughout the entire house. Every corner of the room was incredibly warm, which is super important in places like Xuegu and Xuexiang where nighttime temperatures can drop to minus twenty degrees Celsius. 2) The owner is such a warm, chatty, and responsible young woman. As soon as I arrived, she greeted me with a big handful of frozen pears and persimmons. The next day, when she took me up Xiongling (Bear Ridge), I accidentally dropped my gloves while taking photos and my hands were freezing stiff. Without a word, she gave me her own down gloves and endured the cold herself on the way down the mountain. It was truly touching! As for the drawbacks, the room facilities are quite basic, but they do provide essential toiletries like toothbrushes, disposable towels, shower gel, etc. Besides lacking the unique advantage of snow mushroom houses, Xuegu is still great for playing in the snow and doesn't feel as overly commercialized as Xuexiang. If you're not specifically looking to check out the snow mushroom houses, you might want to consider guesthouses in Xuegu, haha.

The environment is fantastic! It's perfect for taking beautiful photos. The room was clean and tidy, with great decor, and the bedding was super comfortable. The service was also very thoughtful, detailed, and enthusiastic!

The owner was incredibly welcoming and gave us tons of great recommendations for local specialties and photo spots. The guesthouse itself was cozy, clean, and felt just like a warm home – very festive! It had all the facilities we needed, the Wi-Fi was super fast, and the service was excellent. Highly recommend for anyone planning a trip to Snow Valley! Nan Nan Homestay has an unbeatable location, incredibly close to the ski resort. After a tiring day of skiing, you can just turn around and head back to rest. The owner is a local and an excellent guide, providing professional service. The attraction tickets they helped us book were cheaper than online, and they even arranged free shuttle service within the scenic area, so we didn't have to lug our luggage around. The rooms are well-equipped with private bathrooms and complimentary toiletries. The large kang bed can accommodate 2-4 people, making it perfect for family trips or traveling with friends. The 'tie guo dun' (iron pot stew) and 'guo bao rou' (sweet and sour pork) at the restaurant are super authentic, with fresh and flavorful ingredients – incredible value for money. We loved our stay so much, we didn't want to leave!

The cold in Northeast China is a physical attack, but the warmth and hospitality at Nannan Homestay are like magic defense! The owner and his family are incredibly welcoming. They saw our heavy luggage and proactively helped us carry it. Every morning, they'd have the 'kang' (heated bed) pre-warmed, and before we left, they'd repeatedly remind us of important things – even more considerate than family. The food at the guesthouse is homemade and delicious; the chicken and mushroom stew and 'shazhucai' (pork stew with pickled cabbage) are authentic and so satisfying, with portions so generous we couldn't finish it all. When we were leaving, the owner even gave us frozen persimmons to eat on the road. This genuine warmth made our entire Snow Valley trip extra unforgettable.

The 'kang' (heated bed) was set to a comfortable temperature, not too hot for their feet, so we didn't have to worry about them getting cold. The kids could build snowmen and have snowball fights right in the courtyard, allowing the adults to relax. The owner also recommended gentle slopes suitable for families and lesser-known spots to feed reindeer – every recommendation was spot-on. This place is a no-brainer for families with kids!
