The Westin Wuhan Wuchang Reviews

This is the second day I stayed in the hotel. Apart from the awesome hotel lobby, the hotel room is in very clean and tidy conditions. Hotel guest can use the indoor swimming pool for free, please remember to bring swimming cap which is mandatory or you may need to buy from the hotel. The breakfast provides great variety of Chinese and western food, including local Wuhan signature dishes. The beef noodle is excellent. They provide plenty of non spicy food which is very important to me.

I highly recommend the Westin Wuhan Fuli! The views are expansive, and the environment is elegant. Alan at the front desk was warm, professional, and patiently explained the hotel benefits. The room was clean and quiet, providing a fantastic experience. The thoughtful service made me feel incredibly comfortable, and it's definitely worth coming back to.

It's an old hotel, but its main advantage is being close to the river, which is convenient for a stroll. However, if you're looking for quality accommodation and a great experience, you might want to look elsewhere.

The lobby has a charming old-money vibe, and the service was decent. It definitely shows its age a bit, but the night view of Wuhan from the lounge was absolutely beautiful. They gave us a high-floor room since I was with my parents.

The room was okay, but the service was really lacking, especially the parking security at the entrance. The breakfast at the cafeteria wasn't good; the vegetables weren't fresh enough, and there wasn't much variety. The pool was decent. This hotel doesn't have a courtyard or green lawn, which probably explains the lower price and the relatively poorer service.

The hygiene is excellent, and the environment is beautiful. In the evening, you can enjoy the river breeze, listen to the sound of the waves, and watch the light show.

Fantastic river view room, excellent service, and a great breakfast spread that my kids loved. The location is quite convenient; if the weather isn't too hot, you can walk along the river to the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge. The only downside was the air conditioning wasn't very effective, something that needs improvement!

The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet with a great view. I could see the beautiful Yangtze River and watch the clouds drift by.

Great location! It's right by the river downstairs, and there are plenty of restaurants and late-night food options nearby. It's also not far from Yellow Crane Tower, a taxi ride costs less than 20 RMB. Parking at the hotel is very convenient as well. The Yellow Crane Tower model in the lobby is also quite unique.

First off, the hotel's hygiene was appalling. I checked in with my child on July 3rd, specifically requesting a quiet room. When we returned to the room at 9 PM, both bath towels were filthy, each with short hairs, and one even had an unidentified red stain (pictures 1-4). I called the front desk to request new towels, but they didn't arrive until after I called again at 10:30 PM. By then, my child had fallen asleep without showering, having waited too long for the towels. The cleaning staff member who brought the towels had three new ones, but she dropped all three on the floor when she went into the bathroom to inspect the dirty ones. As she checked the dirty towels, she asked if I was extending my stay, to which I replied that I had just arrived that afternoon. She then left the three dropped towels and walked away. My interpretation is: if I were extending my stay, would they not bother to change the towels? She offered no explanation. When I spoke with the front desk, they said they were short-staffed and everyone was overworked, asking for my understanding. Secondly, the room assigned was incredibly noisy due to the rain. Rain hitting the floor-to-ceiling windows made it impossible to sleep all night. I contacted the front desk on the evening of the 3rd, asking them to address the issue. At 10:30 PM, the front desk called back, stating that due to shift changes and understaffing, they hadn't been able to replace the towels sooner, and offered to change my room then. However, my child was already asleep, so changing rooms was no longer an option. I recorded the noise at various times (4 AM, 5 AM, 8 AM, all clearly audible in the room). This noise kept me awake all night. I requested a manager contact me to resolve this. At 11 PM that night, someone claiming to be the duty manager added me on WeChat, but there was no communication. Thirdly, there was no communication on the hotel's WeChat account, which had been added on the morning of the 4th. I proactively contacted them, sending the recordings. They then offered to change my room. Later, I went to the front desk to discuss this, and they offered a room upgrade to compensate for the issues on the 3rd, which I declined. I made it very clear that the issues from the 3rd needed to be resolved, and the upgrade on the 4th was a unilateral action by the hotel that shouldn't be conflated with the previous problems. (As I was out on the 4th and only returned to the hotel in the evening, the type of room made little difference to me.) After I packed my luggage and contacted the manager, I received no reply and wasn't told if my room had been changed (picture 5). It wasn't until I contacted the manager again before returning to the hotel on the afternoon of the 4th that I finally received a response. This was already the third person I had contacted at the hotel, and their attitude remained unclear. Fourthly, after I moved rooms, another manager (the fourth person I dealt with) called me that evening. He seemed more sincere and didn't make excuses like the previous staff (understaffing, overwork, poor handover). However, we couldn't reach a resolution, and I mentioned I would be returning to Beijing on the morning of the 5th. No one contacted me after I checked out. Fifthly, on my way home, someone claiming to be from the hotel invited me to review my stay. I expressed that my experience was poor. When asked why, I told her to check the communication records with the hotel. Every time a new person from the hotel took over, I had to recount the entire experience again. What kind of handover management does this hotel have? Or is it, as the front desk stated, that handovers are indeed inefficient? Furthermore, can hotel understaffing be offloaded onto the customer? I booked a five-star hotel. Does this price not entitle me to two clean bath towels? What I find most unacceptable is their attitude towards problem-solving. A problem is a problem, and there's no shifting blame. From the beginning, every issue was pushed to the previous person in charge, and ultimately, the customer received no value-for-money service. Finally, I and those around me will not be booking this hotel again, and we will also avoid other Westin properties. At this point, whether the hotel resolves the issue or not is irrelevant. I don't need a fruit platter from the hotel, nor do I want the doll they intended to give me; I explicitly declined and did not accept these. I simply want everyone to see how utterly mismatched the management, service, and price are at this hotel.

Arrived at the hotel around noon. Since I booked two twin rooms with a river view, and none were available on the same floor, I opted for a single king room on the same floor that was in a corner. However, the room wasn't ready yet, so we used the time to visit Wuhan University. The twin rooms have a nice river view. As for the corner king room with a river view, the TV blocked the main floor-to-ceiling window, so to see the river, you'd have to move the TV or walk between it and the window. The side window faces a residential building directly, so you can't open the curtains without looking straight into someone's home. Both rooms had separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom, and the corner king room even had a walk-in closet. Also, a major inconvenience was that food deliveries couldn't be brought to the room; we had to pick them up from a delivery locker. On the bright side, breakfast was decent. You can also go to the bar on the fifth floor and out to the terrace for river views.

I rarely write such a detailed review for a hotel. From InterContinental and Accor to Hilton properties, I've always felt that Marriott hotels offer the most traditional luxury hotel experience. From Renaissance and Sheraton to Marriott and Westin, there's always a uniformed concierge at the entrance to open your car door and help with your luggage. One day, I drank both bottles of water in my room, and without me even asking, four more bottles were provided the next day. I used a bath mat on the first day, and when I returned to my room the next, it was neatly laid out in the bathroom instead of being hung up. These small details create a sense of ritual, making you feel like you're dealing with a stranger who understands you. They don't need to meet you or hear you speak; they just know what you're thinking and understand your needs, bridging time and space.

Cassie provided excellent service. She was efficient, whether it was delivering items or answering inquiries, everything was handled quickly. Her attitude was consistently patient, which made me feel very comfortable. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time.

Booked for my parents and they absolutely loved it! The riverside location is beautiful, and my parents were very happy with everything. The breakfast spread was also fantastic. We've stayed here many times. Whenever relatives or friends visit, this is our go-to place. The location is excellent, it's never congested with traffic, and there are plenty of dining options nearby.
