Tru by Hilton Wytheville

The stay was not nearly as good as it was in the past. First, the hotel front desk employee, didn’t get a name but it award a female. She acted as if she had no idea how to do her job. She charged my credit card for one night’s stay (I got two rooms for two nights) even though I paid in full through a third party. I got that cleared up. Then the guests were loud and obnoxious (not the hickey team) it was the other guests. They allowed the bus full of kids roam around as they wanted to, getting in the way of adult guests. Also, the hockey staff asked for an extension on the rooms which they were told NO they would have to reserve the rooms for another day, which did reserve 4 or so. The hockey staff told a person that her and her family could stay in one of the rooms they reserved for another night, this person was told no that they would have to be with the team or have the coach call the hotel in order to stay in the room, which one of the people is a photographer for the team. And after that the same front desk clerk that I had trouble with immediately rented the rooms that had ALREADY been rented/reserved by the team. In my experience that would be considered double renting of the rooms in which the hockey team had reserved/rented for another night. This is not acceptable and me and my family will NEVER stay at the Tru hotel by Hilton in Wytheville BA!!

We spent the weekend in Wytheville to go to the FPHL Blue Ridge Bobcats play hockey against the Pee Dee IceCats. The location from the hotel to the Hitachi arena was excellent. We will be back on the 27th and the 28th! Thanks for treating us and the team so well!

The room was clean and nice. Ask for a top floor to avoid listening to people above you. It would be nice to have microwave in the room which is customary at just about everywhere..as well as a small section of freezer in the mini fridge.

Everything about our staff was wonderful. Great ambiance, staff, breakfast options, amenities, etc. my only complaint the bathroom smelled like sewage. The scent was coming from the toilet bowl and permeated the entire bathroom.

Hotel and staff was great. Vehicle noise from I-81 was a bit annoying when trying to get to sleep. Ask for a room on the far side from the interstate.

Accessible room with tub still had broken window blind so did nut sleep due to bright lights from parking lot and tub with no stopper so how can take a bath? Since only 2 accessible rooms in this hotel, we have stayed in this room several times over past year and blind has been broken and no tub stopper go or over a year! Unacceptable and although the hotel is clean we likely will be looking for another for future trips south.

I chose this property for a convenient stopover, but unfortunately, the experience was far from restful. The Room & Noise: We were assigned a room directly next to the elevator. While I understand interstate hotels can be busy, the walls offered zero sound insulation. A child in the adjacent room was kicking the wall until 23:30. When I brought this to the staff’s attention the next morning, the response was incredibly dismissive. I was told, "that’s just staying at an interstate hotel," which is an unacceptable excuse for poor noise management and a lack of guest empathy. Breakfast & Hygiene: The breakfast area was completely unmonitored. I witnessed a guest pick up a bagel with her bare hands, inspect it, and place it back into the bin. Without staff present to enforce basic hygiene standards or monitor the food station, we felt it was unsafe to eat and had to leave. The Takeaway: The "Tru" brand usually offers a reliable, modern experience, but the lack of professionalism from the morning crew and the oversight in the dining area made this a stay I wouldn't repeat. If you’re looking for a quiet night’s sleep or a sanitary breakfast, I’d suggest looking at other options in the area. Oh and storage, in the room non-existent, not even a coffee maker in the room.
