Motel 6 Wytheville, VA

This hotel has in the past had a bad name but the Manager and her family are making all the right moves and cleaning it up! The rooms have been updated and they are fixing any issues that the past workers either didn’t fix or halfway fixed. The beds are comfortable and having a fridge and microwave was a definite help. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful also.

We got there at 730 pm. The room wasn't ready. Bed not made, they had to borrow a microwave from a different room, there was no sop or shower curtain. They had to bring an extension cord to run the borrowed microwave . What a disgusting place this actually was.

The entire motel was closed. Mattresses were in the parking lot. A large X was taped across the office window with a note that warned against trying to enter because it was structurally unsound.

Staff was called with a click of a bell on the front desk. They were in back room watching TV. Couldn't really help with any questions about the TV in the room but a very friendly guy. Did get me a ice bucket for my use. Bathroom shower was caulked and repaired, possibly mutliple times. The wall was a mess but it was functional. The room is what you would expect at that price point, so no surprises there. My room was the only one with the room number written on a piece of paper and hung on the door. Not a confidence builder. Again for one night at that price, I had low expectations. The room itself was fine.

The room had a strong urine odor that wouldn't go away. The room was substsndard for a Motel 6. Crack under the door not only let light through, but also bugs. Not recommended.

The new owners only owned 1 month so far. The staff was nice, helpful. We stayed here until the Airbnb was ready. Felt safe cuz the FBI and Police were in parking lot all nite and day dealing with a guest. Either old guest trying to get rid of but. Not my issue. Got woke up by them smashing into a hotel room lock box to get stuff out w sledgehammer. Just lots of sketchy peeps in other side of hotel. Saw lots of cops, fire dept, and ambulance. The room was close to office and had smell of cigarettes in room heavy. They offered to change rooms for us. But we needed level 1 room and was short stay. The room was basic. And great for one nite. The only room issue was the padded fluffy toilet seat cushion and the outlets didn’t work properly. Oh no smoke detector either.

I did not stay. The room was on the second floor and smelled like smoke. I stay in Wytheville all the time. I wanted to check out the hotel. For me i will not return to this hotel.

Good place to last your head for a night I stayed 1 night on my way through town
