InterContinental Hotels XI'AN HI-TECH ZONE by IHG

I came for a staycation the night before school started, and I was torn between the InterContinental Economic Development Zone and the InterContinental High-tech Zone. Since I hadn't been to the High-tech Zone one, I decided to give it a try. The hotel opened in 2019 and was renovated in 2023. It's located next to Yanping Gate, with plenty of good food nearby, though it's a bit far from tourist attractions. As a Platinum Ambassador, I was pre-upgraded via email to an open-plan suite, but due to a cleanliness issue, I was moved to a one-bedroom suite. The room featured Byredo BLANCHE toiletries and a Dyson hairdryer. It's worth mentioning that the bathrobes in the room were unique and very comfortable to wear. The overall decor of the room was dominated by dark-toned stone, a classic InterContinental style. The biggest highlight of the one-bedroom suite was a huge circular bathtub, about a meter in diameter, which was incredibly comfortable for soaking. This bathtub might just be the best in Xi'an. Before checking in, I had heard that the hotel's F&B was excellent, and my experience confirmed it. The lounge's afternoon tea was decent, though it did include carbs like Liangpi or Liangmian (cold noodles), which is very Xi'an. However, the happy hour was fantastic, with about 7-8 hot dishes, many cold dishes, and a wide selection of drinks. A bartender from the lobby bar even came specifically to mix drinks during happy hour. The overall quality of the lounge could rival the Ritz-Carlton Xi'an. The breakfast selection was even more outstanding, with freshly made Roujiamo (meat burgers), Cheong Fun, and beef noodles, all tasting delicious and full of local flavor. And because it's in the High-tech Zone, there were fewer children in the lounge, making the overall experience much better than Marriott's lounges. The service is another aspect of this hotel that deserves high praise. It's truly surprising that a hotel in Xi'an, which is often considered a service 'lowland,' can provide service standards comparable to luxury brands. All the staff were very enthusiastic, professional, and attentive. At breakfast, all staff members would kindly greet you, and because the breakfast area is quite large, they would also help you get some food. Regarding service, I must specifically commend Fiona & Rita from the lounge, and the duty manager Jennifer. Due to staying up late watching the US Open, I only got a quick glimpse of the fitness facilities. The changing rooms had plunge pools, and the pool water temperature was moderate, though the length was a bit short. It meets standard five-star expectations. Overall, the hotel industry in Xi'an is very competitive, with the W Hotel flagship, the Hualuxe and Westin near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, two JW and InterContinental hotels in the High-tech Zone and north of the city, and two Grand Hyatts and one Hyatt Regency already open, with Park Hyatt also on the horizon. The name InterContinental High-tech Zone might easily be overlooked among these, but among all the hotels I've stayed at in Xi'an, this one definitely ranks in the top three.

For my October 1st holiday staycation, I decided to try the InterContinental South after visiting the InterContinental Weiyang last year. In terms of hardware, it maintains the consistent InterContinental style, and the decor is well-maintained. This time, I chose a small suite with a very spacious living area, where I spent a lot of time playing games with my child, haha. The executive lounge here is just okay; the food selection isn't extensive. On the evening of the 4th, there was nothing else for my child to eat except for Zhajiangmian, as she doesn't like spicy food. In contrast, the breakfast on the first floor was incredibly rich and varied – a surprising contrast. The executive lounge at Weiyang was more comprehensive, but the gym and pool here in Gaoxin are much better, with larger saunas and hot tubs. It wasn't crowded during the October 1st holiday, which was really nice. Before arriving, I specifically requested a non-smoking room. However, upon check-in, I was given a very smoky room. Thankfully, Miss Sarah promptly arranged a clean room for us, and I'm very grateful for that. The staff at the restaurant, housekeeping, and gym were all very professional and friendly. It was a wonderful October 1st holiday!

Facilities: I saw a double-door refrigerator and a fully automatic washing machine. I didn't pay attention to anything else. Hygiene: I just went in, lay on the bed, and fell asleep, so I didn't look closely at anything else. Environment: The hotel location is relatively quiet, and the lobby is quite grand, so it should be good. Service: I just needed to sleep, had no specific requests, and didn't talk to anyone or get spoken to, so I can't really comment on the service.

We came for our anniversary, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared swans for us! The breakfast was also delicious, and the lounge was great with excellent service.

Both the overall service and the hotel environment are excellent. The hotel breakfast offers a wide variety of authentic and delicious Xi'an local specialties.

The service was excellent, from the concierge to the restaurant staff and housekeeping, everyone was considerate and attentive, truly meeting InterContinental's high standards! You can feel a genuine warmth, which reflects the hotel's overall high level of management. The breakfast was delicious too! 😋

Our stay was great, and the room assigned to us was lovely. We called to inquire about room needs, and they kindly sent up fruit and earplugs, which was very thoughtful. I'm not used to other brands of hairdryers, so it was nice that the front desk thoughtfully provided a Dyson for me. Very good.

Traveling with my family, we've stayed at many InterContinental hotels, which has made it our top choice. The environment is lovely, the rooms are spacious, and the staff are very friendly and professional. The breakfast offers a rich variety of both Chinese and Western options, all delicious and enjoyable.

Our stay was incredibly comfortable and pleasant. I'd like to commend the front desk staff for their gentle and genuine demeanor, as well as their meticulous and thoughtful service. They patiently addressed any issues we had, making us feel welcome and cared for throughout our stay. It wasn't just about doing their job; they genuinely cared about the guests, and we truly felt at home.
