Yayuan Hotel

This is an old family-run guesthouse that underwent renovations. The facilities are just okay – everything you need is there, but the quality is average. By my standards, it's pretty much on par with a typical B&B. The cleanliness is generally acceptable, but it's clearly not like being in your own home. The towels and duvet covers show significant signs of wear and tear, which isn't very refreshing. The floors and walls, whether due to age or insufficient cleaning, always felt a bit dusty and grimy. There was also a faint, recurring smell from the bathroom. The location is definitely its biggest selling point. It's very close to the Eighth Market and Zhongshan Road, both within about a 10-minute walk. The owner's service was decent. While not as exceptionally friendly as some other reviews suggested, they were responsive to requests, so I'd give the service a good rating.

This time, I brought my parents to Xiamen, and the accommodation location was excellent. It's very close to Zhongshan Road and seafood restaurants, and convenient for visiting various attractions. The hotel service was also very friendly!

I booked this place for four out of my five days in Xiamen, and it offers incredible value for money. It's very quiet, and the location is fantastic, right near Zhongshan Road Snack Street. Many famous local eateries like Sibei Texiang Bao (special bread), Peanut Soup, and Jukou Banmian (mixed noodles) are just a short walk away. The landlady and her family are also lovely. They have a dumpling shop next door, and I was even able to store my fruits in their fridge. The prices are also very reasonable. You can't go wrong choosing this place when you visit Xiamen!

The room was clean and tidy, and the owner was incredibly nice! They even turned on the air conditioning for us in advance to cool the room down, which was super thoughtful. ❤️
