The hotel was super lovely, even in a historic building! The owner of the hotel even gave us an extra room for free, helped us with booking the ferry to the island and gave us a lot of information regarding the island. She was so so sweet and always very happy!! We got picked up from the pier and we were escorted to the hotel. The hotel had such a calm vibe!!

There were five of us heading to Gulangyu, and we saw this place online and thought it looked pretty good. We booked it with a 'let's just try it out' attitude. We asked the owner to send us a video first, and we thought it looked fine. But when we arrived at the owner's villa, it completely exceeded our expectations! There's even a swimming pool, and it's super clean. I especially want to commend the baggage handler and the female owner – their service was excellent. They even helped us plan our itinerary. The place is incredibly photogenic, both at night and during the day. And the cleanliness is top-notch. I will definitely be coming back here again! I've uploaded the photos I took for reference.

Facilities: Relatively complete, no major flaws. Hygiene: Clean and tidy. It was raining when I checked in, but the owner still managed to keep the room and courtyard free of standing water and mud. Environment: Located on a relatively high point in Gulangyu, surrounded by lush greenery with distant sea views. The privacy between rooms in this villa is excellent. The outdoor pool, restaurant, and courtyard all have a strong Southeast Asian vibe. Service: Absolutely outstanding! The owner is a very kind and friendly lady who was incredibly attentive. She helped me with my luggage to and from the ferry terminal during check-in and check-out. Any items needed for the room or clothes for washing/drying were provided promptly and comprehensively. She also helped us keep track of ferry times and purchase tickets for getting on and off the island. When we went out, she even gave us a map, marked with detailed recommendations for fun places and good food – tried and tested, no duds! I will definitely book here again on my next trip to Xiamen, and I'll recommend it to any friends visiting Xiamen too! 👍🏻

Very beautiful and quiet hotel with nice garden. Location is perfect to explore the island. The hosts are very heplful and caring and prepare an excellent breakfast. The kids loved the pool and the cats. We stayed two nights. I would always come back.

Slow House is perfect for people like us who want to relax and slowly savor the time on Gulangyu Island. It's very close to Sunlight Rock, offering stunning sea views. The staff were incredibly attentive, helping us with our luggage and patiently explaining things along the way. Following the recommendations sent by our friend, we ate at every restaurant, and surprisingly, none of them were bad, significantly elevating the quality of our Gulangyu trip. We initially thought Gulangyu would be too commercialized, but it turned out to be surprisingly artistic and charming. Thank you to the restaurant! We'll definitely come back!

The hotel I stayed at was just average overall; the environment wasn't particularly impressive. The room wasn't large, the furnishings looked a bit dated, the wallpaper edges were curled, and the carpet showed signs of wear. The lighting was a warm, yellowish light, making the room somewhat dim. The view from the window was of the back of the residential complex, so the view was so-so, and I could hear some noise from downstairs in the morning. Cleanliness wasn't a major issue; the sheets and duvet covers were fairly clean. However, there was some dust in the grout lines of the bathroom tiles, the shower water pressure was inconsistent, and the water temperature wasn't very user-friendly.

The villa yard is very simple, elegant and quiet, just like the style of Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro. The breakfast is also very good. The owner is elegant and easy-going. He also picked us up and showed us the way when we left. In short, it was a comfortable and relaxing time.

The boss lady and the clerk sister are very gentle and thoughtful, speaking softly. When you go out, they will give you a suggested route according to your visit, as well as a guide to eating and drinking on the island. They also thoughtfully delayed check-out, and the bed was made so that we could rest after coming back from shopping. 👍👍 Breakfast was delivered to the room, hot and fragrant. The uncle who helped carry the luggage on the way to and from the island was very enthusiastic, and he would also introduce you to the attractions on the way. He answered all questions. My daughter was very happy and liked it. I have recommended it to many friends. I will choose Manwu again if I have the chance to come again.

Very satisfied. We started picking up and dropping off passengers and luggage from the pier. The roads on Gulangyu Island are really inconvenient for pushing suitcases. There is a swimming pool in the yard and the environment is quiet. It is very suitable for the theme of slow house. There are very few rooms for each theme. If I have the opportunity to come to Gulangyu next time, I will choose this one so that I can experience more rooms. The staff are also very enthusiastic and polite. It was a very good stay experience.

I have always been demanding about the service experience. The service of this homestay is very good. They will arrange personnel in advance. As soon as we arrive at Gulangyu Pier in the morning, someone will help us pick up our luggage and send it to the homestay, so that we can travel to various attractions on the island with light luggage, have fun during the day, and check in at the homestay in the evening, saving our time and energy. When leaving the island, the homestay also arranged personnel to help us send our luggage to the pier. So I want to give a big thumbs up to this thoughtful service of the homestay. In addition, this homestay will also recommend tourist attractions according to the location of the pier where we go to the island. Moreover, the homestay also recommends better restaurants, dessert shops, cafes, tea houses, etc. on the island. We went to eat according to the recommendations of the homestay and were very satisfied. We didn't step on the pit. We stayed in a two-room suite, which was clean and tidy, with complete toiletries, a large living room, a semi-open-air bathtub in the suite, and a swimming pool at the door of the suite. The landlord was quite considerate and prepared a bathtub set, which was hygienic and convenient. The breakfast was also good. It can be delivered to the room on time and it was comfortable to eat. The only drawback is that there is no socket at the bedside. It is recommended to install a socket at the bedside to facilitate charging of mobile phones before going to bed. It is recommended to install the switch of the room light at the bedside. In addition, there are mosquitoes in the room, and I was woken up by mosquitoes in the middle of the night. It would be more perfect if the homestay could solve the problem of mosquito interference. It was a wonderful trip that cannot be replicated. If I say the best time was the afternoon that the boss lady "gifted" us. If I go to Gulangyu again, she will definitely not recognize me. I will go here again to find the shadow of the past.
