The oldest, slender gentleman with graying hair at the front desk first asked me about my travel plans for the next few days. Then, using a translation app, he communicated with me sentence by sentence to help me plan my itinerary. This was incredibly detailed, down to whether I wanted a bento box for breakfast or lunch, what time to catch the train each day, where and when to transfer, what time the last return train was, and by what time I absolutely had to leave. He even made sure to tell me which direction to take the train so I wouldn't get it wrong. The katakana he used, when put through the translation app, roughly translates to "Kiyooka" or "Seioka" (Mr. Kiyooka/Seioka). My sincere thanks to this gentleman!

The room was a bit pricey, but very clean and tidy, and the sea view was absolutely amazing. The hotel staff were incredibly warm and attentive.

There is a bus that goes directly to the Arakawa trail entrance at 4:36 every morning in front of the hotel. If necessary, breakfast can be replaced with a bento, and a lunch bento can also be provided.
