Had an awesome stay at Ichinoyu Katei. The staff were very attentive, the room was great and both the public baths and the baths provided by the ryokan itself were great experiences. Especially the open air rooftop bath, accessible even at night, was amazing. Warm recommendations!

A very nice ryokan with an onsen and access to other baths. Breakfasts and dinners are traditional Japanese, very interesting and plentiful. The hosts and staff are extremely attentive. A great place to relax and visit the snow monkey park.

Awesome! Even with those monkeys. The onsen were sometimes too hot, but all in all, it's a great idea to offer something like this. Plus, I met a nice Swiss guy in the onsen. It made my day :) Cheers, Jochen

There are no shower facilities in the rooms; everyone uses the large public bath on the rooftop. However, the requirement to use the bathing area is inconvenient for menstruating guests who don't want to soak in the hot spring or move around while bleeding. The owner speaks good English and can communicate, but the staff have heavy accents and are difficult to understand. There is no Chinese-speaking service. A car can take you to Yudanaka Station. The food was too salty for my taste. The hotel provides a key to the Shibu Onsen (steamed hot spring), but I found it too dirty and only looked at a few before not using it. Also, changing clothes there is extremely inconvenient.

This was my first time staying in this area, but the landlady was very polite and explained everything in detail, which was very helpful. The indoor and outdoor baths were very comfortable, and it was a very satisfying hot spring trip. Dinner and breakfast were also delicious, and I was very satisfied. The location (cobblestone road) was attractive, as it allowed me to experience the atmosphere of a hot spring town. There are nine outdoor baths, and I regret that I was unable to visit them all.
