Shiroganeya Ryokan

Breakfast was delicious; in my experience, it's truly rare to encounter such a wonderful breakfast. I would have loved to try dinner as well, but unfortunately, I couldn't make a reservation because I was traveling alone. I've stayed at larger, more expensive hot spring inns before, but I really love the atmosphere here. Everything is simple and friendly, and it felt as if time had stopped in the Showa era. I think places like this are also very rare. Regarding the hot springs, both the indoor and outdoor baths are quite hot, but you can adjust the temperature with tap water. One thing that bothered me was that the teapot wasn't very clean. I came to the Hokuriku region this time because I wanted to find a "snow country." I didn't find a snow country itself, but instead I found this place. I will definitely come back again.

A cozy ryokan with an authentic atmosphere in the center of town. It has its own onsen and also provides keys to the city's public onsen. The hotel is quite old, but that seems to be its charm. It was clean. The hosts were very welcoming, explained everything and helped call a taxi. The toilet and shower are not in the room, but shared.

Overall, it was quite nice; the rooms and food were very Japanese. However, the hotel doesn't seem to offer a shuttle service; I got off at Yudanaka Station and walked for 30 minutes to get here. Check-in is after 3 PM, dinner starts at 6 PM, and breakfast is at 8 AM the next day. The service was excellent, and the food was pretty good.
