Penglai Baxiangu Hotel (Penglai Pavilion)

The environment is great, the service is excellent, and the breakfast offers a wide variety of choices. The hotel is conveniently located near all the attractions, with Penglai Pavilion within walking distance. They even gave us a gift when we checked out. Overall, we were very satisfied.

Not bad, I stayed in room 6. The room wasn't south-facing, so it wasn't very dry overall, a bit damp... The hotel breakfast was very good, the Penglai noodles were delicious. However, the restaurant overall felt like there was too much waste. The table next to me had a full plate and barely touched it. I'd suggest taking smaller portions and refilling if needed.

The environment here is lovely, it's a garden-style hotel with multiple buildings, just a stone's throw from the beach. It's also a quick 5-minute walk to the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea Scenic Area. The hotel restaurant is excellent; we ended up having dinner there every night of our stay. You can also book a travel photography session.

The hotel is pretty good, very new, and clean. It's right by the sea, so the location is excellent. They even gave us a gift when we checked out. However, I didn't find the front desk staff particularly friendly. It was a straightforward check-in process. They wanted me to store my luggage outside in a self-service locker, but on such a hot day, I really preferred to have it stored directly at the front desk. There wasn't any information provided, and certainly no one offered to help with luggage or guide us to the elevator. We were just pointed in a direction and left to find our way with luggage and a child. I saw a gym on the way, but I don't even know if there's a pool or anything else. They did tell us where to go for breakfast, but didn't mention that the same restaurant also serves dinner (we went, and the portion sizes were more like Jiangsu/Zhejiang cuisine, not the larger Shandong portions). For over 800 RMB in Penglai, I don't think the service quite matches the price. The executive king room was just okay; it wasn't particularly spacious, and the window overlooked a terrace that anyone could access.

This was my first time in Yantai, and I chose this hotel. The environment and service here are absolutely five-star standard. The parking lot attendants were also incredibly kind; I chatted with them about where to find a car wash, and the next morning, they had already cleaned my car for me! Huge five-star praise for them! The breakfast had a great variety, especially the Penglai noodles, which I highly recommend. We had dinner at the hotel in the evening, and my whole family said the food was delicious, even my baby ate a big bowl of rice, and the prices were reasonable. Also, everyone, from the front desk staff to the dining room servers and the parking attendants, provided excellent service. It's safe to say that because of this hotel, I've fallen in love with the city of Yantai. I'm giving you five stars because that's the highest option available. Oh, and they also have a swimming pool with very clean water and a great atmosphere. The beach is right outside, and it's very close to both the Eight Immortals Cross-Sea Scenic Area and Penglai Pavilion. Absolutely fantastic! They even gave us a souvenir when we checked out.

The hotel's location is fantastic, right across the street from the sea. It's incredibly convenient, as you can walk to the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea scenic spot. While the breakfast doesn't have the standard offerings of larger hotels, it's packed with local flavor and tastes great. The hotel's restaurant also deserves praise; the food is delicious and affordably priced. We ended up having dinner there pretty much every night during our three-day stay. We'll definitely be back!

Overall, I'm satisfied, but there are a few details that could be improved. During check-in, my family accidentally presented an old, expired ID. The male front desk staff insisted on scanning the physical ID and said a photo wouldn't work. So, my family went back to the car to retrieve the correct one, only for another female staff member to then say a photo was perfectly acceptable for registration, which was a wasted trip. Also, the kettle was too 'innovative' – I couldn't figure out how to use it, which felt unnecessary. In our room, the hot and cold markers on the shower were reversed. This is the first time I've encountered something like this in a five-star hotel, and it resulted in running the water for ages with no hot water coming out. Around 11 o'clock, both key cards for our room stopped working, and we had to go back to the front desk to get them re-activated. Finally, the phone in the room wasn't working at first, and we later discovered the phone line wasn't plugged in.
