Best Western the Dartmouth Hotel Golf Spa

We went to this hotel following our wedding. We were not impressed at all by the service except for one individual by the name of Tracey at the reception. She was very very helpful and is the reason why we have not given this hotel a 1 rating. The communal areas of the hotel are dirty with broken carpets and the walls are really in need of paint. Our room was not cleaned and you apparently have to request for it to be cleaned (except there was no way of doing this and we were not told that you have to request it). The spa is okay. Location of the hotel is good with lovely greenery around. Service was very poor though in the restaurant. We had to get our own cutlery even though the waiter said she would bring this to us. At breakfast, we had to go up to the waiters to order food even though they said they would take the order from the table. It seems understaffed and the service really needs to improve.

We were stopping in the nearby cottages, which were excellent, so we decided to have a meal in the restaurant in the hotel, they had a large function on the same night which meant we ended up waiting an hour for our starters and some menu items were not available, if there's a function on the staff don't seem to be able to cope, the food when it came was average at best, I wouldn't recommend it.

Hi we had a great weekend at Dartmouth golf and country club on weekend of 24th May, the golf course is excellent and buggy’s great to, the hotel was also good, room very good clean and tidy, breakfast and evening meal was excellent, staff very friendly especially Chris, all in all I would highly recommend this hotel Regards Richard

One positive I can note is the staff. Friendly and catered to all needs. Oliver at the spa desk was fantastic, I had forgotten my shoes and provided flip flops - thank you! Jody and Sofia in the spa were great. Welcoming, friendly and made you feel relaxed. The massage was also great, happy Birthday stone was much appreciated. The facilities within the spa were great. Loungers and herbal tea provided. However, the cleanliness of the pool facilities were not to standard, very dirty. Jacuzzi was out of order and had scorched a ladies leg. The sand timer in the sauna was broken and there were not enough loungers to cater to all guests. The food in the restaurant was average and the interior was full of bugs and again cleanliness was lacking. Complimentary tea or coffee would have been appreciated with our lunch. Wouldn’t choose to come again.

Spa and Pool not working, no water for toilets, restaurant food was poor quality and not good value.

Comfortable bed, nice linen, very clean room. Very good meals, friendly staff. Lovely quiet location, very good wifi. Very reasonable price for a good night's sleep. Property poorly maintained. Very old carpets, the entrance signage had dropped off, the reception is dull and all the paint had worn off the counter tops and the outdoor terrace plainly hadn't been cleaned in yonks - cigarette butts and paper in the drainage gutters (and i don't mean just one or two). The threshold to the bar terrace was just plain filthy - don't management see these things, or are they happy with this level of cleanliness? Such a shame because this tired property could be superb.

Awful, poor service from start to finish. Food not great, spa old and dirty, wrong food sent no care for others than golfers

The Suite (room 307) is the most tired & grubby room I have experienced in a Best Western over many years.. Sofa heavily stained & that bad we couldn’t bring ourselves to use them even, the carpets also stained in several places & the heaters filled the room with a smell resembling urine when turned on as the areas in the suite were extremely cold. There is water stains on the bedroom walls where the roof leaked & it was not worth the extra paid for what was expected a little bit of luxury in a suite.staff understanding & it’s simply an owner issue. Positive was the view of the treelines & birdsong but unfortunately neither were a result of the property & natural

Lovely quite spot, very friendly and helpful staff, nice lounge and eating area and Lovely food. Nice pool / steam room / jacuzzi / sauna and gym in with the price. Plenty of parking and my wife said a lovely spa. We will be definitely going back again.
