Raja Ampat Biodiversity Nature Resort

My wife and I spent 10 days over the Christmas holidays here and had the best diving holiday ever! We are experienced divers who have dived all over the world (Maldives, Belize, Egypt, Thailand, Malaysia (Sipadan), Philippines, Indonesia (Sulawasi), Micronesia (Palau & Guam), GBR, Caribbean, Hawai, Japan) and in our experience, nothing, I mean nothing, tops diving with Raja Ampat Biodiversity Resort. If you are the kind of diver who enjoys a friendly, intimate resort, with a personal touch and where you can meet and befriend like-minded people and where your needs are taken care of, then honestly, Raja Ampat Biodiversity Nature Resort is for you! Quite simply, the resort is beautiful. Our bungalow was spacious; superbly maintained and always clean with a wonderful view looking out on to the white sandy beach and the stunning turquoise blue beyond. The staff were so friendly; genuinely happy to help and to ensure we had the best time. The owners were on site over the holiday period and they also genuinely cared about making sure we had the most memorable time. And the food was truly wonderful! As for the diving, you've probably done your research and know that the diving in Raja is exceptional. But did you know many of the best dive sites in Raja are within easy reach of Biodiversity Nature Resort? This means we dived at world renowned dive sites everyday, and we weren't disappointed! The sheer range of biodiversity and volume of marine life is utterly breathtaking. The dive operation at the resort is superbly managed and our dive guide was brilliant, making our entire diving experience so memorbale. If you are still deciding which resort to stay at, do yourself a favour and book Biodiversity Nature Resort. You won't regret it!

This is a wonderful place to relax, snorkel, dive and meet interesting people in very natural landscape and very well designed wooden houses. The organisation was perfect (thanks to Kaylee!) Great bar on the beach with the best pina colada before dinner. The food ist very good with all you can imagine – wonderful breakfast buffet (fresh smoothie and fruits) . Patrizia – the owner of the resort - is a relaxed and hearty person that cares a lot and all the stuff ist really great!!! Diving was amazing: so much fish and lovely corals – the dive guides are very nice and experienced. To fam islands it is quite a trip – 1,5 hours by noisy boot – but it is really worth to go there. With some weather conditions we had lots of rubbish in the ocean and on the beach – which is really sad to see. Who wants can help to collect and clean the beach. Jen, Martin, and the entire staff were amazing! The accommodations, food, and even the guests were all wonderful. This was a once in a lifetime trip and the best diving we have ever experienced. Do yourself a favor and book as soon as you are able!

As divers our focus was the water, but the land was just as enticing. The personal connections with staff and other guests made wonderful and lasting memories. The meals were delicious ,the bungalows were well appointed, and the facilities and boats were all in terrific and well maintained condition. The dive instruction (our teenage son completed his (AOW/Adv Adventurer) and dive operations were top notch, very personable, and professional. The diving in Raja Ampat was of course, mind blowing, spectacular, fun, exciting, amazing, and adventurous. The opportunities to see a variety of villages, hike interior on islands to see wildlife (Red bird of paradise, monitor lizards, cus-cus, bats, other birds, and a wide range of other flora and fauna) were all reasons we prefer land based versus liveaboards for dive and adventure holidays. We look forward to returning to Raja Ampat and Biodiversity in the future.

Our visit to the Raja Ampat Biodiversity Nature Resort now seems like a dream, a wonderful dream. It is set in a beautiful location where rainforest meets beach which meets coral reef. On our doorstep there was so much marine life, an abundance of birds and butterflies, lizards and even cuscus. In such a special place, that requires some effort to reach, you don’t want to be let down by poor accommodation and facilities. This resort did not disappoint. It was expertly managed by Kaylee and Tristan, and with constantly changing guests, their adaptive management gave us a large variety of islands and reefs to explore. All staff were exceptional, which made our stay a delight. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The dive/snorkelling guides were skilled and professional. We spent a lot of time with Edwin who paid attention to detail and was great. The skipper Eric knew his way around and how to handle the conditions. There was even a resident biologist, Diego, who gave weekly seminars. We caught his knowledgeable presentation about mangrove ecosystems. The bungalows were well appointed and were very pleasant places to stay. Also, the restaurant deserves special mention. There were different dishes freshly cooked every day, each one a delicious treat. A great deal of effort was made to meet our special dietary requirements, with individual dishes often prepared Lora, Jerry and the chefs were superb. The restaurant sets long tables to facilitate mingling of guests and staff. You arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.

Special spot. Resort was exceptional, beautiful cottages, amazing snorkeling and diving and the staff made it an outstanding vacation. We won’t ever forget our time in Raja Ampat. The owners and managers made certain that every guests had an exceptional time and focused on every detail. The food was great and fun to share with other guests the adventures of each day. We came home with he many new friends and great memories. Snorkeling and diving was beyond expectation. Thanks for everything.

Ashamed. I reported the disappearance of some of my diving equipment during and after my stay to management and they refused to recognize these thefts and reimburse me. Management is in denial about this situation and refuses to take responsibility for it. The only solution was that they suggested that I contact my insurance company to obtain compensation and at the same time, they threatened me with legal action if I communicated on this subject on the networks. Unacceptable!!

We had the best time at Biodiversity resort. This is a family run business that operates like a clock! Patricia and Rey make a tremendous effort to have all guests satisfied, the staff is well trained and super nice. Our kids ages 6 and 10 had a great time while mum and dad went world class diving. Do not miss The Passage boat ride - we did it on our very last day and it was a really special experience.

I just returned home after spending 5 nights in this lovely resort. First lesson learned, 5 nights is a very short stay, 8 nights is the minimum and longer is better. Resort handles the transfer from Sorong airport to the resort and back, transfer went very smooth. Phone signal (Telkomsel) and internet were good enough to follow up my work. I stayed in a superior cottage, which was spacious, bright and clean, you can hear the waves and birds from the comfortable bed. Towels are changed every 2 days which was not enough given that towels never get drayed due to high humidity! Unlike what other reviewers stated here, there are a lot of mosquitos (maybe because of my darker skin!?) So be ready to use the repellent from the first moment of entering the room. The bed has a good mosquito net, but was dense and blocked the air from the portable fan, was not a big deal ... but I think a ceiling fan and thinner mesh above the bed may do a better job. Food! Super delicious and different dishes are offered every day for lunch and dinner, and different fruits and juices for breakfast. meals at shared tables, people find it a good idea, for me it's not. It's still not a big deal but maybe offering the option of a private meal even with an extra charge is a good idea. Diving was superb; resort location is good; you save some time in boat travelling to most diving sites compared to resorts around Waisai for example. however, you must understand that getting the sites you see on the internet require a longer stays and favored sea conditions AND enough guests that share your special desires, I was very interested in diving in mangroves area but I think due lake of interest of other guests, I could not make it ... I'm not complaining, I'm just want to stress on the importance of having enough time in such remote areas. Diving boats and equipment's were OK, diving guides did a very good job, Jimmy (not very sure about name spelling) was my guide in almost all dives. Finally, the leaving moment was very sad! Hopefully I'll come again to the same resort soon.
