The only one upside of this property is the proximity to kangaroos! Had almost 50 of them sitting on the front lawn of the cottage. Otherwise, the reception was the rudest service staff i’ve ever encountered - upon arrival at check in, she lectured me saying that I should have emailed the property directly whenever I book via third party sites, because they apparently get no information from these platforms. I’ve always booked using these platforms, and not once was I required to do so. In any event, if it was required, it should have been posted on their listing. Further, I did not find it warranted for me (as the guest) to receive a lecture after a long drive all the way to the property. This was a major no no for me, but was only the start of my negative experience here. There was a family in front of us at check in, and they also received a lecture from the same lady, although I did not overhear what it was about. The property itself is on a golf course, so while it is pretty picturesque, it is pretty far from anything else and of course a car is mandatory to access anything (even within the property, as our cottage was more than 1km from the reception). We also were given a lecture for asking whether we could use the golf carts within the property, as they are “for golfers only” (she could have just explained nicely and we would have understood). The bathroom is big, and equipped with a bathtub, but when we turned on the bathtub, some hair came out of the jets, so it is probably due for a clean. Otherwise, toilet equipped with l’occitane amenities. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher and pots and pans (for cooking on the indoor induction stove or the outdoor gas bbq), but the pots and pans looked very used and worn out. The dishwasher was also lacking in power, as the pots and pans were still dirty after the dishwashing cycle, and we had to wash the dishes with the sponge and dishwashing liquid provided ourselves. It is also worth noting that there is no room cleaning service for the entire stay (towels only replaced on the 4th night). The bin situation was also dismal, as there was only 1 bin for kitchen waste, and it was really small. By the end of 2 night stay, the bin was extremely smelly due to food waste. In this property i think it is assumed that there is cooking in the room, given that all the pots and pans are provided, so a proper method to dispose trash is apropos. There was a bin behind the property (outside), but the bin did not have a lid on it, so it didn’t seem proper to dispose of trash there, given the animals that reside on property. Cleanliness was also lacking in the room, as there were cobwebs everywhere around the cottage and even one right above my head in bed (!!!!) As mentioned, the only upside of this property are the kangaroos right on your front lawn, but it is also a con, since the front lawn is littered with kangaroo faeces, and didn’t seem like it had been manicured or cleaned in weeks (maybe never?) Overall a super disappointing experience. Would not recommend.
Response from Property: Dear Anonymous, it is very disappointing to read your comments following your time with us. The Yarra Valley is very much a self-drive destination and, our accommodation is positioned within a private nature reserve on the property - located approximately 1.5km drive from our reception. Whilst it is okay to walk this distance during the day, we do always recommend to our guests that at night they drive as our wildlife population roam freely across the property. We do not promote our property as being a full-service experience and do not offer daily housekeeping service as a standard inclusion - guests are welcome to add that to their stay at an additional charge - we apologise that this had not been clearly articulated within our property profile. Yering Gorge Cottages is positioned within a private nature reserve and our wildlife population are able to roam freely in their natural habitat - a much-loved feature of our accommodation experience. The reserve is left in its natural state to ensure minimal disruption for our kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and extensive birdlife, and we do not clean up after them. Whilst this booking platform does not require guests to provide an email address, we do always encourage our guests to do so to ensure they are able to receive all of their pre-arrival information which provides a lot of information that can assist in your final planning stages. On arrival, we do always provide an overview of the guest experience which includes information on the breakfast hamper, where to find bathrobes and slippers, our complimentary inclusions and what is featured within the mini bar; whilst also assisting our guests on favourite places to dine, which wineries to visit and other attractions that might be of interest. We apologise if this may give the appearance of a lecture, but it is the opposite and the majority of our guests are very appreciative of our welcoming experience and our recommendations. We understand that our accommodation experience doesn't suit everyone, and we apologise that your stay did not meet or exceed your expectations. We do hope that the remainder of your time in Australia saw many amazing memories created.

This is a very nice resort. The interior is very clean and large. Bed is comfortable and toilet is good with jacuzzi. You will see kangaroos and cockatoos outside the cottage in the morning and evening. My kids enjoy the stay very much. However you need to either cook your own meals or drive out to eat. The drive is about 15 mins.
Response from Property: It was lovely to welcome you to Yering Gorge Cottages and it is wonderful to read that you enjoyed your time with us. Our immersive nature-based accommodation experience provides many wonderful experiences for our guests - particularly our international travellers - who love being able to see kangaroos in their natural habitat. Our guests do have the option of being self-contained during their stay, or dining in the Clubhouse restaurant experiences when open. We are always happy to recommend some of our favourite places to eat out in the Yarra Valley. Thank you for your fabulous review and great rating - we do hope to be able to welcome you back again soon.

Amazing cottage experience in the Yarra region. The bushwalking trails are highly recommended in the early mornings and evenings - plenty of wildlife and kangaroos around the space. Truly magical!

Awesome experience, you can get close to the animals outside the house, and it's a wonderful experience on the golf course The cabin is very well equipped, but there are no other facilities The front desk is friendly, and there is a hiking trail, a great place to relax

Very beautiful hotel, I really want to stay a few more days if I have time. Kangaroos and various birds roamed around, it was fun and happy, and the room was as beautiful as the pictures.

There are many kangaroos at the door of the golf course cabin. It's a pity that I don't know how to use the barbecue facilities, otherwise the trip would be more perfect.

The hotel is a collection of independent villas on the golf course, which is too good to be true; There are so many wild kangaroos and birds around the villa, it's like living in a zoo; The villa is very luxurious, with a large area and a billiards table;

We stayed at the cottages for my brothers wedding. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, not only did we get a complimentary breakfast hamper they also provided the kids with their only little bags with activities and food. The grounds were well kept and the wildlife was spectacular.

Absolutely loved staying here in the 2 bedroom cottage for the weekend. It was difficult to find the cottage as there were no signs to state which cottage was what until you drive around the back and see the sign or the number of the cottage. The beds are so comfortable! The breakfast pack was very generous to have some staples to start off with. Amenities all through the house were good apart from not having a tea towel. The mini bar had a good range to choose from also. The shower could've been cleaned more thoroughly but overall, would stay again!

Just fell in love with the Yering Gorge Cottages. Everything was perfect except the water pressure. Taking a shower and washing your hair can be risky.
