York Pavilion Hotel, BW Signature Collection by Best Western

The hygiene condition is exactly as pictured. It feels like the hotel hasn't been properly cleaned since it was built in 2000; after 26 years, it's so dilapidated that cleaning can't fix it... The hotel description claims a renovation in 2024, hmmmm... at least in the two rooms I stayed in, the mosquito fossils on the walls looked like they've been there for more than two years. The 'Best Western' suffix is also questionable. I didn't see any elements related to BW either inside or outside the hotel itself, yet in the review email sent by the hotel, 'BW' was larger and more prominent than the hotel's own name. I complained about the outrageously poor hygiene, and Trip.com contacted the hotel on my behalf every day. After five days, there was no response. I deeply feel that even though it's not BW, it's truly amazing (NB – a play on words, implying 'terrible' or 'awesome' depending on context, used sarcastically here)!

A beautiful, charming, and lovely English countryside hotel! Although it's not in the city center, there's a bus stop right outside that takes you directly there in ten minutes. It's very quiet at night, the surroundings are superb, and the hotel itself is even an award-winning wedding venue. The room was beautiful, you could tell it was thoughtfully decorated, with plenty of tissues and even a shower cap. The bed was very comfortable, and the duvet was just the right thickness! Lush greenery outside the window, and the staff were very nice. I had a great night's sleep and loved it.

Overall, I'm satisfied. The hotel's exterior looks great. The first room they gave me wasn't good, but after I mentioned it, they changed it. The facilities are a bit old, but the cleanliness is quite good.

The small garden is lovely, and the staff helped me to get a little spider to leave the room during my stay. The hotel's restaurant is no longer in operation and can only provide breakfast. Guests aren't offered overnight parking either; the front desk suggested we park on the street. There were plenty of street spots, but their parking lot clearly had lots of available spaces. The room was small with no air conditioning, and the ventilation was very poor; the steam from the bathroom would escape into the room. There's practically nothing nearby, and the supermarket is quite a distance away. The toilet in our room kept leaking. After the staff fixed it, it started leaking again after just two uses. The curtains let in some light, and I wanted to ask the staff for a paperclip to clip them together, but he just pulled and folded them and told me it was fixed. There's no phone in the room, so you have to go directly to the front desk to report anything. Around 5 PM is peak check-in time, so remember to fill out your card first before heading to the front desk.
