The room was spacious and very clean. It offered a great view of the city walls, and the cathedral was just a short walk away. There were plenty of restaurants, bars, and supermarkets nearby, making it easy to find food. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're visiting York.

This is an excellent hotel. The breakfast is great, and the hotel restaurant serves high-quality food. It's right next to the ancient city wall. There's a gym, and it's very convenient to get to the train station and the market streets. Plus, the views are lovely.

I am very disappointed with my room assignment. Before my arrival, I specifically requested rooms near the elevator and connecting rooms (or at least rooms close to each other) because I am traveling with my young children. Unfortunately, none of my requests were accommodated. Instead, I was assigned two separate rooms on different floors (2nd and 6th floors). To make matters worse, each floor requires a separate key card to access, making it extremely inconvenient and nearly impossible for my family to move between rooms. Additionally, one of the rooms is located at the very end of the hallway, far from the elevator, despite my request for a room nearby. These arrangements are the exact opposite of what I requested and create significant difficulties when traveling with children. I made these requests in advance because they are important for my family’s safety and convenience, yet they appear to have been completely overlooked.

The room was relatively spacious, especially the bathroom, which also had a beautiful design with hot water for showers. I arrived early and was able to check in since a room was available. The location is excellent, right next to the city walls entrance, perfect for a walk around the city. I didn't require housekeeping during my two-day stay, and the hotel even gave me a £15 voucher for the restaurant downstairs, which I used for coffee and drinks. Very satisfied.

The hotel location is excellent. It's a 3-5 minute walk from the train station, and right next to the city walls – you can even see them from your room window! York Minster and Shambles are only about a 5-6 minute walk away. The staff are really friendly, and the facilities are quite new. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, which is a great design. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit.

The hotel is very close to the train station, about a 5-minute walk through the city walls, which is very convenient. York city isn't large, and most attractions and shopping streets are within walking distance. We booked two rooms and arrived a little after 2 PM. The front desk initially thought we only had one room and assigned us a room on the first floor, ignoring our request for a higher floor. When I told him we had booked two rooms, he then said the other room could be on a higher floor, but we couldn't get the keys until after 3 PM. So, we had to take all our luggage to the first-floor room first. As soon as we opened the door, there was a strange smell, which got a little better after turning on the air conditioning. Since we were only staying for one night, we didn't bother to discuss it further. When we returned in the evening, we picked up the keys for the second room, which was on a higher floor. The cleanliness was noticeably better than the first-floor room, and there was no strange smell. Both rooms were quite spacious, which was a plus. Breakfast was semi-buffet style; you could order one hot dish, and then help yourself to bread, fruit, and other items.

It was great stay in lovely room conditons. Our family walked around the attractions happily even if it drizzled. The Malmaison York's staffs were very kind and the facility was very satisfactory to our family.

Great location, great room and great service keep it simple because it really is just a good hotel

The hotel's location is excellent, and the rooms are spacious. The sofa bed in the suite essentially makes it a two-bedroom. However, parking is a nightmare. You need to book it in advance with the hotel. Ctrip said it was first-come, first-served, but we parked and then were told to move. Nearby parking costs £40 a day.

Hotel was very centrally located just a few minutes walk from the Train station. Reception staff were helpful however didn’t tell us about the Sky Bar they had so we missed out on that as a result. The staff at breakfast however looked harassed and weren’t particularly attentive, to the point that it took 45 mins to get our cooked breakfast on our second morning. It was well cooked when it eventually arrived but the service not great. Room itself was fine but decor and furnishings looking a bit tired. Some of the lights were motion sensitive and came on randomly during the night and had to block the sensors, but overall very comfortable. Not sure we would book here again as there’s a lot of choice in York and better places to stay.

The room was spacious and bright, with a stylish and modern decor. It's also a pet-friendly hotel, super close to York Station. Stepping out, you're right by the city walls, which is a popular photo spot. Overall, a great experience.

Great location, right at the entrance to the old city, close to the train station and the city walls. The room was spacious, but the lighting was a bit dim. Overall, it was pretty good.
