Hampton by Hilton York Piccadilly

The location is great, and a morning stroll through the town was lovely. The only downside was that the hotel's air conditioning wasn't working. I contacted the front desk three times, but to no avail. The first time, the lady at the front desk suggested turning it on and off multiple times to activate it. The second time, she came to the room to demonstrate, but when that didn't work, she said she'd go to the server room to adjust the AC settings, which also yielded no results. The third time, when I contacted a different staff member at the front desk, I was asked, 'Has someone already tried to fix it?' Then they brought a fan, repeatedly saying 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.' They explained that the AC cooling system couldn't be activated because the weather in York was cool. It was just 'I'm sorry' after that. It was the first time I'd heard such a reason for an AC not working. Nevertheless, the town of York is still very beautiful.

I have to complain! York is such a small city, yet there are two identical Hampton Inn hotels. We originally wanted to book the hotel closest to the train station, but ended up booking the further one. We had to drag our luggage and walk for 20 minutes to get there. When we checked in, we were told there were only two rooms left, so we couldn't even choose. Then, when showering, we found the drain was blocked and the water wouldn't go down. But that's not even the main issue. At night, one bed's headboard was shaking, and the other bed's footboard was shaking – it was very spooky. Thankfully, I only stayed one night and couldn't wait to leave in the morning. The price was over 2000 for this kind of quality, which is very unsatisfactory. The reception was also very sarcastic and unhelpful.

The room was clean and well-equipped with everything I needed. I arrived early, intending only to drop off my luggage, but to my surprise, I was able to check in early. The front desk staff was very friendly, and I was even able to borrow an umbrella from them on a rainy day.

Extremely central location, just a few minutes' walk to Shambles, York Minster, and the city walls. The room window offers a view of Clifford's Tower. There's a Tesco right next door and an M&S not far away. The room was clean and spacious, with a powerful shower, and the breakfast was excellent (traditional English).

This hotel is really great! It's only a 5-10 minute walk to Butcher Street, and there's a supermarket nearby, which is very convenient for shopping. It's also clean and has air conditioning. The only downside, in my opinion, is that the breakfast is a bit simple. Other than that, out of all the hotels I've stayed at during my time in the UK, I think this one is the best.

The location is quite convenient; you can take a walk along the old city walls in the morning if you get up a bit early. There's a decent-sized supermarket nearby, which is handy for shopping. It's very close to the Butcher's Row, but there's not much to see there. The bed wasn't very comfortable, and the bedding felt old, which I didn't really like.

The hotel room was clean, the staff were warm and polite, and the breakfast was good.
