Yufuin-Sanso Waremokou

This onsen ryokan comes highly recommended! It's not a big brand, but a family-run hot spring hotel with only about 7-8 rooms, offering great value for money. The hotel is about a 3-5 minute drive from Yufuin Station and is situated on slightly higher ground, so all rooms offer a view of Mount Yufu. Each room also features two semi-open-air hot spring baths, one wooden and one stone! Soaking in the onsen while gazing at Mount Yufu is incredibly comfortable and relaxing! The platform between the room and the onsen even has a hanging chair and a massage chair. The space is generous, facilities are complete and clean, the environment is peaceful, and privacy is excellent. The Japanese kaiseki cuisine is thoughtful and high-quality! The staff are proactive and polite, maintaining the warm and friendly atmosphere typical of a small Japanese ryokan. A memorable touch was upon departure: a dedicated staff member took an instant photo of guests at the hotel entrance, along with a small photo of Mount Yufu, as a complimentary souvenir – a truly thoughtful gesture!

The place is very spacious and has a private onsen, which I was very happy with. The living room is huge, and there's an extra room, so it would definitely be no problem for a family of four to stay here.

The hotel is conveniently located on the hillside, making it easily accessible by car. The staff are incredibly enthusiastic, proactively helping with luggage and even offering to take a commemorative photo before departure, which they print on the spot. The room features three hot springs with adjustable temperatures, offering beautiful and peaceful views. The meals are exquisite and generously portioned.

This Yufuin hotel is fantastic and super pet-friendly! The dinner and breakfast were incredibly rich and delicious, with high-quality ingredients and generous portions. Soaking in the hot spring with that beautiful view was pure bliss. The hotel's service was also excellent. I genuinely recommend it and hope to see you again next year when the cherry blossoms bloom!

The environment is comfortable, and the 'one night, two meals' (both breakfast and dinner) service was fantastic – the food was delicious and plentiful. Some staff members speak English, and the room has three hot springs: two outdoor and one indoor.

The owner and staff were incredibly friendly, which I really appreciated. I was also amazed that the meals offered during our two-night stay were all different, with no重複ing ingredients! We could freely use the open-air hot spring right in our private villa, and the family bath was also exclusive to us when in use, ensuring a private and enjoyable experience. The pick-up and drop-off service to Yufuin Station made getting around very convenient, so the accessibility was great. This was my first time staying at a Japanese ryokan, and I truly felt well taken care of. I had such a wonderful and relaxing time that I definitely want to go back!

The service was excellent, and while the food was just okay, the overall experience had a great sense of occasion. The room felt a bit outdated, but the hot spring was absolutely fantastic! 👍🏻
