Tai Shinu Hotel

The water pressure was strong and the hot water was plentiful, which was great! The soundproofing was decent, but the people upstairs were still stomping around past midnight. The duvet filling was too thin; I'd suggest replacing it with something thicker. The air conditioning was incredibly loud and noisy, which really affected my sleep! There was a giant pillar in the room that took up a lot of space and made it feel cramped. And there was a constant bad smell coming from the bathroom 😩. I booked a Deluxe Family Room, but it didn't feel deluxe at all; it was more like a standard family room. The only things I really liked were the breakfast and the water pressure. Also, parking cost $150. I knew this before arriving, but I think it's a bit stingy to charge guests for parking when they're already staying at the hotel! Oh, and there was a bidet toilet, but it seemed to be out of order!

The hotel has a great location with plenty of local eateries and restaurants nearby, so you'll never go hungry. The room rates are reasonable, offering excellent value for money. The downside is that the air conditioning in the room was not cold enough and there was a smell of smoke.

I chose the Taixin Hotel for a short business trip because of its excellent location right by the traffic circle, which made it super easy to find. Contrary to some reviews, I didn't notice any musty smell upon check-in, but you can definitely tell the facilities are a bit older. However, they've clearly made an effort to maintain them, even if you can still spot signs of age in less accessible corners or crevices. I found it all acceptable, though. The main drawback was the poor soundproofing; I could hear conversations from neighboring rooms and even further down the hall perfectly clear, and closing doors sounded surprisingly loud, sometimes making me jump. Also, because there's an arcade next door, the smoke smell from downstairs can be quite noticeable. On the plus side, the hotel is only about a five-minute walk from the train station, and there are plenty of dining options and convenience stores nearby. For a short stay, I'd say it's still a decent choice.

This hotel is located in the bustling area of Douliu, making it super convenient for a stroll down Taiping Old Street to shop or grab a bite. It's also close to the train station, and there's even a morning market nearby, so shopping is a breeze. Plus, the price is really good, and the breakfast was surprisingly decent! Definitely my top choice for my next stay in Douliu!
