Very unique and historic hotel. Room is clean and spacious. Location is great and only 5-8 mins walk to some nice restaurants and bars.

The Esplanade Hotel scores big on location — it's perfectly situated and hard to beat for exploring the area on foot. The beds were genuinely comfortable and made for a restful night's sleep. That said, the rest of the interior is showing its age. The furniture and furnishings are visibly worn and could use replacing. It doesn't ruin the stay, but it is noticeable and brings the overall experience down a notch. Overall a solid choice if location and sleep quality are your priorities — just be aware that the room itself has seen better days.

The Esplanade is a beautiful property with fantastic, classic facilities, but the level of service falls far short of a 5-star standard. When checking out, I was left entirely on my own while struggling with two large, heavy suitcases. Not a single staff member offered to assist me, help me toward my taxi, or even hold the door open—I literally had to use one suitcase to prop the front door open while dragging the other through. Meanwhile, staff members were standing nearby chatting among themselves, completely ignoring the situation. It is a shame because the hotel itself is lovely, but basic proactive hospitality on departure is a fundamental requirement for a luxury hotel. Great facilities can’t make up for a complete lack of attentive service.

This hotel has a grand, atmospheric feel and the location was perfect. The cleaning was also thorough. However, the service was far from top-notch... (For example, even though I had a plan that included breakfast, I was told breakfast was an extra charge and to pay and sign. It turned out to be a communication error on the hotel's part). I could have overlooked a single mistake, but that wasn't the case, which was very disappointing.

The hotel had a quaint majestic feel being a century old i think but facilities and amenities were all top standard. The room is very spacious and comfortable and breakfast was sumptuous. Loved the stay!
