InterContinental Hotels ZHENGZHOU by IHG

This time in Zhengzhou, I chose the InterContinental next to David City, and my stay was very comfortable. Facilities: It's a relatively new hotel, so everything is pleasant and well-maintained. Cleanliness: The room was very clean. Service: The service was friendly and attentive. One day, we forgot to remove the 'Do Not Disturb' sign before heading out, and when we returned, we found a notice slipped under the door by housekeeping, informing us that the room hadn't been cleaned. This shows their strong commitment to guest privacy. Environment: The arrival hall is on the first floor. The lobby is on the seventh floor, and you need to switch elevators on the same floor to reach the guest rooms. Staying on the 19th floor offered a great view overlooking People's Park. The breakfast was extensive, and I even got to try local specialties like Henan Stewed Noodles.

InterContinental consistently delivers on quality, and every staff member I encountered was friendly and smiled. The elegant orchids in public areas and details like 5100 bottled water all exuded good taste. Plus, if you love swimming and working out, this is a great place to stay. The buffet, priced at around 200+ per person, is definitely worth trying; the seafood quality is excellent. However, the biggest issue is the lack of ventilation and natural airflow. It got uncomfortably stuffy in less than a day, making it unsuitable for extended stays. The mattress was extremely thick, and the duvet was very warm, making it hard to sleep in the first half of the night due to the heat. Secondly, the complimentary 'special experience' lacked sincerity. The hotel couldn't directly book it; I had to contact the vendor myself, and the front desk didn't proactively offer this information. It took several phone calls to finally reach them, and in the end, I couldn't do it because the timing didn't work out. The vendor was on the 2nd floor of David City, and the actual service duration was only about 10 minutes, despite the hotel's page stating 30 minutes (which apparently requires buying products). Why would I travel so far just to apply hand cream and eye cream myself? I'd rather skip it. There were also a few minor flaws that didn't overshadow the overall experience: The toilet paper was very thin, the flip-top bin was inconvenient, and the toothbrush bristles were too hard.

This was my first stay at an InterContinental hotel, and I must say, the overall service, ambiance, and management were all impeccable. My visit coincided with the Chinese New Year holiday, so the hotel was very busy, but this didn't compromise the quality of service at all. Every staff member was incredibly warm, helpful, and polite, always with a smile. I even managed to swim 1000 meters in the pool the day before I left, and it wasn't crowded. In short, everything exceeded my expectations. Full marks!

This stay was much better than my first, with noticeable improvements in service across the board. My only complaint is that the showerhead in my room kept moving around and wouldn't spray straight; it was either pointing left or right, making every shower a struggle. I mentioned this at check-out, so hopefully, it's been fixed. Also, it's strange that for the same room type, the number of bathrooms isn't consistent. Last time I stayed in this room type, I'm sure it had two bathrooms, but this time there was only one. Lastly, the parking lot signage isn't very clear; it takes me a while to find the hotel elevators every time I go down. I hope they add some more obvious directional signs.

This InterContinental is, hands down, the best I've ever stayed at, excelling in service, ambiance, and management. The bedding was incredibly comfortable. Its location is super convenient, with a luxury shopping mall right next door. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit. I hope the hotel continues to maintain its high standards!
